Gold ammo opinions.

Personally I've been very worried about the possibility of gold ammo being introduced. I played WoT as soon as it went live and I remember having to buy a premium account in order to platoon with my friends. Then on top of that they added the gold ammunition. When I seen gold ammo I quit the same day. Since then they've allowed platoons without premium (i think) but I've never returned.

 

The reason I'm so worried about this is because I like wows a lot more than I've ever liked WoT. I'm not sure what I would do but I really hope I never have to decide. 

 

What do you think you would do?

Because "gold" ammo can be purchased with the standard currency it's really just an economy issue. So I'd use it 90% of the time and probably never buy a ship again.

Additional ammo options would be fun but not if it was the WoT version, I'd be salty but I'd still play.

That makes a huge difference IMO. I didn't know that you could use credits to buy gold ammo in WoT. Obviously things have changed a lot since it's beginnings.

I'm not a WoT player so I'm not familiar with the premium ammo thing. They only give better penetration, right? As far as I can imagine, premium ammo would be weirdly placed in WoWS since unlike WoT the shell calibers have just way too much variation between them. For example, I wouldn't imagine a Destroyer ever using it, since no amount of extra pen will save the fact 5" guns can't pen anything but the superstructure. Now I could imagine BBs running it frequently since you'd want to reduce the risk of being unable to pen angled enemy BBs when you're bottom tier while they overmatch you... I have no idea how the concept would work out here really.

It used to be gold only at some point, but they added an option to buy it with credits later. Don't recall when exactly - it was a few years back.

Well that's a relief lol. So i guess it's more like the premium consumables like we have now. That's not nearly as bad as what I had in my mind.

The devs have stated because the games are so different gold ammo makes no sense in WOWS.

hopefully it never even crosses their minds to add something akin to "gold ammo" into the game, its just not needed.

I personally is strongly against any forms of premium ammunition

However addtional ammo choices would be fun and creative.

For example, the naval HESH rounds would be very interesting to have.

Or probably proximity fuse battleship anti-craft rounds

We can even have those special British Cruiser AP rounds regularly

There's already daily threads about people plopping down cash for higher tier ships and "ruining" the game. We do NOT need any further "ruinations".

WG already removed AP rounds for tier 1s, and that's a good effort.

It would be a good idea to give more ammo and tactical choices for higher tiered ships for players with more skill and seeking more variation to the game.

My first thought about gold ammo would be that exocet ("flying fish") missiles on the Dunkerque would be well received by the crew. ;)

It's not a big deal, and I don't think it will ever be a thing. In WoWs, you can damage and maybe kill a ship tiers higher then you. In WoT, however, in certain machines/tiers/match ups there is literally no way you can damage him feasibly, let alone kill him. Yeah it was kinda lame but now that you can get them with credits, I think it is a balanced option in the game. But that isn't really a problem in WoWs so I really don't see it as being an issue.

I quit WoT because of gold ammo and would do the same here.  It takes the fun away for those without it, and the challenge out of it for those with it.
