Don't see what all the whining is about (BB Economy)

Ran several games today with battleships at various tiers.  My premium account had lapsed.  Didn't renew it for this experiment.

Made decent credits 50k - 160k after expenses every game.  On a standard account!

The new economy is just fine for battleships.  Not a carrier guy, so can't vouch for them.  But battleships are doing fine.

the whining is coming from the "don't scratch my paint" group. the ones who pride themselves on keeping as far from the fight as possible.

I made over 500,000 on a t8 cruiser doing a little bit of everything. Never seen cash like that from my cruiser playing before.

No crazy damage or anything, just not staying still.

Made 100k+ on a t2 destroyer several times just farting around spotting, and lobbing torps into sleepy seals.

Credits earned on my BB's are improved by about 50% or more.

The economy feels great for the goal of getting people moving and active.

YOLO punishes you as does timidity.

I'm fantastically happy with this change. I know that getting into the fight and doing my job will be rewarded. It's wonderful.

cl/ca/dd/bb are fine in this new economy if you stay on the frontlines and can avoid damage, but cv's really are in a tight spot because spotting dmg was added but is very minimal because so many people are spoting the same target (excpet dd's) and the only reliable way to make money so far i have found to be to run AS and shoot down as many planes as posible, and get spoted and tank some dmg at the same time. it goes directly against what many people would like the cv to be doing (damage to ships) and make its hard for a cv to come close to breaking even if he is doing well.

It's coming from two groups:

1. Cruisers.  CAs get the same repair fee as a BB while they have less opportunity to exploit tanking - at the same time, they have little opportunity to exploit spotting to the degree DDs can, unless you're a stealth-specced IJN CA.  Thus their earnings are left in the dust - the introduction of SGM3 is a Band-Aid to cover that, but in the long run, I think CA repair costs need to go down a bit to encourage more cruiser play.

2. Campers.  Self-explanatory.

Don't have much of an issue so far; credit wise; my biggest complaint is being forced into a close fight when that isn't my playstyle. I'm not some 15-20k sniper, but have been surprise bottyseksed too many times inside 10k to ever believe it is a viable option with certain ships.

Now in DDs? It's kind of like Jekyll and Hyde; I tend to be much more aggressive in those ships than any of the others.

Almost no one is complaining about the results for BBs,

literally all the complaints on the forums today has been BBs complaining.

The only people who should be complaining are the CV players but theyve always been shafted the hardest. So theyre all just used to it at this point.

"I do 100K+ dmg from the back without being seen by anyone and my economy is ruined!!"

Really, that should be rewarded. If they managed to do 100K+ damage from the back in a sniper-type BB, then they helped their team quite a lot.

What should not be rewarded much are low-HP kills.

So we should all run to the middle like the charge-crazy idiots on the RU server? Screw that.

Part of my objection to these changes stems from the bloody fire alarm making me want to tear my ears off. It's worse than the old citadel hit sound ever was.

Yeah; be aggressive; that's just what I want to do; go forward where every smelly-stuff you step in HE thrower could potentially set me on fire.

The only people who should be complaining are the CV players but theyve always been shafted the hardest. So theyre all just used to it at this point.

The truth be told; for all my kvetching about the changes; the only ships I've really noticed a change on where my carriers.

My experience with the new economy changes with the latest patch has been very positive.

I was making good credits and xp pre 5.12 and it seems that I'm making even more post 5.12 (CA main and BB). I'm quite happy with the change.

From the experience of my own game play since the patch...

BBs get the most benefits from the new economy. My earnings on all my BBs played so far increased by about 20-30% on average.

DDs are doing fine but can't see any increase in income.

Cruisers depend on the situation and individual game. Good games get better than before income but bad games are getting worse.

I didn't play high tier CVs but can already feel the difference at the low tier. The average income of my Hosho and other lower tier CVs dropped by about 30%.

I play SMASH MOUTH style BB's.  The new economy has'nt changed at all for me.  I sold off all my tier 9/10's because of the loss in funds weeks ago.  Tier 5,6,7 and 8 are fine for me...Good hunting Gentlemen.:B  PS. I don't play tier's 1,2,3 and 4 because I don't feel the need to seal club for stats.

Exactly. There is another game sort of similar to this that gives kills to everyone that contributed to the kill, and kills themselves don't reward much.

And BBs shouldn't be up front brawlers. WG wants to force us to play the way russians play. BBs aren't mean to go rushing in guns blazing everywhere. I mean wth. They have long range guns for a reason.

If the economy continues like this I'll stop playing when my premium runs out next week. I don't play BBs to brawl, I play them for long-range, devastating guns.

BB have been helped a lot by this update, it is the cruisers that have taken the hit, we already have a meta focused on BB play and cruisers benefit the least from this, if at all. Encouraging BBs to get close and take damage is a good thing yes, but players who play Japanese BBs for example with an emphasis on support fire rather than tanking loose out here. one economy for every ship is never going to work, for aggressive ships this update is amazing, for passive ships like cruisers and IJN BBs till tier 9 this update is a nightmare as it forces us to play in a way our ships are not designed to play.

my cruisers(tier 9, tier 8) are doing fine. My play style is a bit aggressive, so I take a lot of potential damage, and usually at very low HP or die at the end.

Yeah, so what else is new?

That statement was true before the patch too.

Whether it's old news or not is irrelevant, some BB drivers aren't getting the memo.  That's who all of these counter-threads are directed at.

Played 9 games today in my North Carolina! with the exception of 1, I did an average of around 80k damage and was earning around 100k profit! Thanks to WG's new system, I've been able to play even more aggressive and in turn do more damage and get more rewards from it!:medal:

It's the Battleships who are stating out of shooting range of everything but other battleships that was driving this camping meta. Coupled with the prohibitive repair costs.

I am not a fan of the removal of repair scaling but I understand the reason why when cruisers and other battleships refuse to push a point on the map that needs winning

I've been saying this for months, pleading to get WG to realize that cruisers have to be much cheaper than other ships. So far.... nada....
