Ranked season 5

So tier 6 ships for 23 to 16

Then tier 8 for balance.

 

So is that only t8, or t8 +,? Previous seasons have been t6-t7 etc. 

 

I did not see anything in the news article. Anyone know?

T8 only, because people would try to be cute and bring Aobas and Indies to T7 games...

only T8 on the lower ranks, period, full stop, stick a fork in it cause it's done.

I like that it's only a single tier in each league, not a pair of tiers.  Makes things more balanced, I'd think.  Worst that can happen now is someone bringing a stick tier 6 or 8, which is a lot better than someone bringing a stock ship from the bottom tier of a tier pair.

 

I do wish that the Third League had also been tier 6 rather than tier 8, so that the season would have had 2 tier 6 leagues and 2 tier 8 leagues, but whatever.

Flint is just a gimped Atlanta. It has good stats because of players who have it, not ship itself.

Guess I'll be stopping at Rank fifteen again this season instead of trying to get a little higher.

 

T7? Maybe; none of my T8 ships are worth using in ranked.

Flint is just a gimped Atlanta. It has good stats because of players who have it, not ship itself.

 

Trading one gun for smoke is not a gimping, it is a literal buffing. Flint is playable even on Ocean. Atlanta is not.

I do wish that the Third League had also been tier 6 rather than tier 8, so that the season would have had 2 tier 6 leagues and 2 tier 8 leagues, but whatever.

 

It looks like they aligned the T6-T8 break with the cutoff for the season flag. They probably wanted newer players to be able to get the flag even if they haven't advanced past T6/T7 ships yet. That said, T6 in the Third League would also have created a weird situation at Rank 10 where you're not safe (last safe rank is 12) but suddenly have to change ship tier.

Flint would be OP with the quality of drivers it has. That is the reason for no T7 this time.

I am fine with T6 and T8, though Benson and Bismarck will abound.

Yea season four was a beast. Got in about 1/3 of the into it and made it to 14 but ended at 15. Lot of foulness in the chat made it almost unbearable to play at times.

Personally, I beg to differ. I've at a minimum been useful, helped secure wins, and have survived many times on Ocean in Atlanta. It's all in how it's used.

Potatoes don't own Flints, that's the point.

 

Aside from that, even I know situational awareness is key when deciding how long one can safely stay concealed in smoke.

 

If you think torpedo armed ships are near, you use the smoke to escape.  If you're in the free and clear, that's the only acceptable time to reverse and 1/4 back and forth in smoke getting free shots.

 

Anyone who owns a Flint knows how to behave in smoke.  I promise you.

LOL yeah going to try and be much more casual about it this season. Get there in a more organic way. Will probably take 300 battles.

Prepare to have your Molotov's tail handed. Cruisers do not fair well in ranked. Infact they are more a liability then a help.

 

For me it's Anshan, Dunkerque, Warspite, Tirpitz.

Hmm yeah I think for me.... tier 6 meh does not matter any of them will be fine, for tier 8.... probably Bismarck and Benson. Edit and Atago!

Only 8's I have are: Tirpitz, Atago, Hipper and Mogami. Only 1 out of those I'd consider taking in is Tirpitz. Might do Atago if I'm feeling Froggie.

Does anyone have evidence for the highlighted text? I've been scanning for information on the structure of the ranked levels, but so far drawn a blank. Quite concerned that they're repeating the same crap as S3 (no T5 safe spot)
