Learning to Kutozov taught me how to Schores

I started a match today in my Schores thinking that I would not like her as much after running Kutuzov a lot. I thought, what am I going to do without a smoke generator? Well, all I did was followed destroyers around and hid in their smoke while they fought! it worked pretty good, though I lost I have learned some key things about Russian cruisers, things I do not follow in Japanese cruisers, however maybe I should?

Don't try to use all 12 guns unless in smoke or in heavy cover, be happy about angling and just using 6 guns, its cool, sometimes 9, sometimes 12 for instants, but 6 guns on a battleship really is good, because they can't kill you in one volley.

I lost this game, but this was my best Schores game.

Really not bad right? I just used 6 guns pretty much constantly all game. I out gunned a Cleveland when I only had 6k hp left and he had nearly full, just weaved and acted like a destroyer while using six of my guns. Really I think that was just luck and he was drunk and not aiming well, but it was epic, like I wish I had a replay of this match.

I did turn broadside to finish off the Myoko because I knew I could sink her before she rotated her turrets to face me if I did that, it was worth it.

I think the Shchors is a great measuring stick for those interested in buying the Mik, more so than the Chapy.  While you don't have smoke or those 8km torps, damn near everything else feels the same - their guns, their armor, their speed and agility.  For me, she's a mini-Mik.  What Mik Captains drive when they're not driving Mik's :)

And nice result too!  :great:

Angling is an important skill to learn. Once you do, you'll find you can much more easily take on fuller health opponents and survive. This lesson carries well to all cruisers and battleships. Often times, it's better to have less guns firing longer.

I would say the Mk has better armor than Schores, the armor viewer proves this.

After next patch though Schores will have her armor buffed, will be interesting to compare.

I'm 20k exp away from Chappy, how is she compared to the ships I have sailed? I'll be speccing my kutz captain for her so the 15 point captain will help.

Chappy is a great stealth HE spammer but her butt turns really slowly and she loses all her health the moment a BB fires at her from ANY angle.

She is good at fighting DDs if you can get close to them and radar (fully upgraded). She is definitely a support ship and not a brawler. Hang away from the enemy fleet at 14-16km and spam HE.

While the numbers are better, imo, they don't mean much facing CA and BB AP.  Especially as the Shchors faces T9s and the Mik 10s, that slight upgrade in armor doesn't do much.  A bit of splitting hairs and for me, the blanket of, 'they're both squishy,' works :)

Like Cappy said, she turns very, slowly....  and she suffers from the same 'will get cit-rekt' issue that plague her sisters.  I struggled with her once I upgraded the C? hull and got Radar.  Why?  Because while she beat up a DD really nicely, especially with that nice Radar range, I found myself too close to the enemy big uglies.  Meaning, cit-rekking time :sceptic:

For me, I sold the Chappy and kept the Shchors.  If I didn't have the Mik, I'd probably keep the Chappy because she is a good ship.
