[Constructive Criticism] Why the general userbase hate "stat paddler/unicum"?

Majority of them seems to hate ungodly-like W/R (Im not one of them, im a half-blood unicum and casual) stat-lovers and unicums in IGN.

Their Reason being, what I've heard most, objectively speaking:

0) Elitism?

1) It's just a game and you're obsessed with stats

2) You can grind in co-op/Free XP the ship, and have better chance of getting "gud stats"

To be fair I did saw on WoT replay with people being elitists to others. I'll acknowledge that but I didn't see that kinda behavior often in this game for some reason. Yes, I may have contradicted myself right there, but this is different game (and IMHO the toxicity seems to be bit lower, more on this later)

Stat-paddling/it's just a game-

Why do you hate them? they're just good/did something right to get numbers higher, it probably took them effort of SOME SORT to get them there with ungodly W/R. And good lord, when you see them being on your team, chances are, even if you die, they might carry you and others to a win.

Side argument- "they play on co-op to do that/they used FreeXP"

Same answer. They took effort to get those XP and converted them. Matter of fact, YOU CAN do same; Why hate them? That's a valid game mechanic.

Ex: people grinding stock fuso.

Just play your C hull Kongo (which isn't bad IIRC, I play anime kongo for giggles) and stack up free XP/convert them

Side argument: But I don't have money for it.

Go play on co-op with your stock Fuso, IIRC you'll get same fuso on enemy team, stock, by co-op MM.

Elitism: Ignore them. Im sure you know how to use ignore function. Im quite sure you can Alt-tab, Google "How to mute people in world of warships" with your laptop/desktop/phone/whatsoever. BLACKLISTING also works well.

(End Rant)

Chances are, if someone has a 65%+ recent (or overall) win rate, it is because they divpadded their stats.

They are most likely a good player, but those kinds of players tend to only play in divisions, and never play solo. This highly inflates their stats and can make them seem much better than what is reality.

It also tends to line up with those players being more elitist and bragging.

I have seen players call others "trash" and "garbage tier" because they don't have 70%+ recent win rates.

EDIT: I type this and laugh, because I have a 65% recent WR. All according to plan. /s

That:

Your div carried your team to win.

Others shouldn't be complaining about it because other 9~10 people (2man or 3man div) gets automatic win bonus if they were to be lost, and wins because of your div.

I'm hovering around 50% WR. That's because I play solo most of the time and I get its my fault. But I do know the importance of not being a potato in game. So sometimes, its a bit unfair when someone calls me a "useless" noob in the game, even after proving myself by killing 3 BBs and died doing it. (DD captain here).

I have been a solo pub since WOT beta and WOWS right after beta. Stats do prove a players worth. The ones who brag about purple stats probably have a small Johnson.

I consider myself to be an average player. Not purple and not a tomato.

But I do consider myself smarter than the average meatball that's in game.

Honestly most people who are good at this game don't run around blasting off in chat about how awesome they are.  The only time it happens is when somebody with bad stats starts telling them how they should play.

I've lost count on how many times someone with less than stellar stats has told me I should be doing something that is so terribly wrong (in this game and the other one) that it is laughable.

...and I disagree on the coop nonsense.  I don't believe anybody who is any good at this game grind their stock ship in coop just to protect their stats.  If you're in coop it's because you like it for some other reason.  Nobody good needs to go there to protect their ePeen stats.

..and while I'm not purple I'm not terrible either, and my stats are more as a gauge for me to see how I did on a nightly basis, and for some good natured ribbing to my long time gamer buds.. I'm too old to be competing for stat glory with the young bucks.

I am no unicum, but divisioned my win rate is probably 60-65%. And a division + teamspeak can really have a powerful effect on the game -- after all, if we are winning, so are the other players on the team. I am always happy to see players in BBs, CAs, and DDs on either side whom I know are good -- it's fun to play against good players, and it gives confidence to see them on one's own team.

Can't wait for team battles...

-me : I have 1800 wtr as DD(was on fletcher) , fu stats talk. Just have fun dude.

I dont think anyone hates unicums but only annoying people .

People don't hate good stats.

People hate when people use good stats as an excuse for being able to treat others like complete garbage.

And that happens.

And the mods do nothing about them because TECHNICALLY stat shaming and gloating aren't "against the rules.

People hate ELITISTS that can get away with their crap because of loop holes in the system that the mods don't give a rats [edited]about changing to fix them- even though they're still blatantly being jackarses and scaring away their community on a daily basis.

By my personal standard, as long as someone manages to kill 1 person (full health worth, not actual last shot "kill") before they die, and do so in a strategic way that doesn't put them at a points disadvantage, they do not qualify for potato/useless. As long as a person does not inflict negative strategical position/points difference on them and equalizes their health worth of damage to the enemy team to neutralize a threat- they've done their job.

It's 12v12. By all rights everyone is only SUPPOSED to kill one other person. If you're managing to properly kill (again not last shot) more than 3 people, you're a star player on the team.

Funny story, I can count on two hands the number of times I've been called names in game until this Sunday.   In a single sitting I was called "noob" or some variation of the word in 4 separate games and my "lack of skill" was paraded in chat the same number of times.

The funny thing is that all of these times save one, the players accusing me of being bad were really not that good themselves statwise.

The argument I see people making about skilled players being more elitist is just rubbish.  The vast majority of the shaming I see going on is by statistically average Or worse players.

On another note,  I do see a lot of people being condescending towards decent performers and I think a lot of this stems from a lack of understanding or jealousy.  The truth is there are really good solo players out there who can perform statistically great AND have fun doing it.  I see a lot of mud slinging from the "oh I could do that too if I tried/wanted to but I just play for fun".   Just because someone performs well, doesn't mean they aren't having fun or have to "stat pad", and if it were so easy to have fun and do well, why don't these individuals do well AND have fun too?

There also seems to be a disconnect about what it takes to be a good player, if there is a statistical correlation and the difference between average/good/great.  While stats aren't perfect, I'd definitely assume that someone with 2,000 battles averaging 2 kills per match and 100,000 damage is a better player then another person with the same battles in the same ships but half the results.
