Ship XP

Can anyone tell me what you can do with Ship XP if all your Upgrades and consumables are used up? Thanks

research the next ship...

 

once a ship turns elite... (all modules and the next ship/s are researched) you can convert any exp earned on that ship to free exp with doubloons

Click on your free xp at the top right corner of your screen in game and it will take you to the convert xp screen.

Think you misunderstand. There is the "SHIP XP" next to the commander I the upper right screen which is to be used for  upgrades, etc.

 

The question is what do I do with this when I have upgraded everything and do not have a ship to research. Can I do something else with it not related to this ship with it?

 

Also what good is the "convert xp" in the upper right corner?

You can buy doubloons for real money and convert Ship Exp to Free Exp. I found that it really wasn't worth doing beyond tier 5 unless you just need a few free exp for something. I have lots of premium ships with quite a bit of ship exp that I expect will just keep accruing. IMHO it is best just to ignore it after you research all your upgrades and the next ship in the tech tree.
