ships shoukd hve two uograde specs a primary one and then a seconday for instance if your specced aa in primary upgrade slots and no cvs in battle ..u automaticaly go to seconday upgrade slots which may have main battery or secondary guns.. if i spec aa i leave mm if there r no carriers bcuz i just wasted upgrades and signal flags that wont be used..bascicaly main battary and secndairr upgrades have a use in every battle speccing aaa ....is  somethign u may never use

How about nope. You go into battle with what you have not what you wished you had. Prior to battle you have to make choices of what you would want to have the most and live with those choices. Just like how you have to pick skills and cant change them on a whim in the loading screen.

in life (and I mean real life, not this electronic gaming version) a man is required to live with his choices

this is referred to in the adult community as acting responsibly

while not all aspects of the game follow real life,

or are historically accurate,

a player is still required to pretend he, or she, is a responsible adult and live with their decisions.

I realize this particular fact of our modern day existence may not fit your idea of what should be

but it is what we have.

Just don't spec aa and say CVs are overpowered when they get you. It's the trendy thing to do. :)

If you want multiple builds of the same ship, play the ARP ships or buy the premium version of a tech tree ship.

 

Otherwise, pick one.

Battles are more interesting if you can go in specced for the battle you're in, instead of having to go into everything with whatever general purpose build you have.

 

OP's idea doesn't go far enough; ideally you should be able to go as far as choosing your captain after seeing your matchup.

 

It's not even as if this is some kind of new and radical idea. I remember seeing posts from way back that suggested CVs should be able to swap loadouts in the loading screen so that they could match their loadouts to what the situation demanded. (Pre-mirror MM, when CVs would complain about going in with a fighter loadout for there to be no enemy CV, or go in with bombers only and get roflstmped because they didn't have fighters to guard their bombers with).

 

Seems like a lot of people here are just bashing the idea because of who it's coming from. Sure, OP makes a lot of stupid inane posts, but this particular idea isn't a bad one in itself.

I guess the idea is that you should have to "choose" a build for yourself and sacrifice other things that may be useful, instead having a chance to change your build every time. 

Personally, i think that consumables should be changeable each battle, but captain skills and module upgrades is going a bit too far.
