At the start of my last session some A$$hat started shelling teammates, causing lots of damage.

I put him down, like a rabid dog deserves.

Now I'm pink!  Since I am relatively new and did'nt realize what pink status meant, what now???

Putting him down was not the correct response .. hence you being pink.

Unfortunately for every human alive right now, WG doesn't want these socia-paths punished, for fear WG will lose money out of pocket.

that is why you are pink.

Screw you WG, you really suck.

Good news for you is that if you play nice it shouldn't be any big deal.  Keep in mind that *any* team damage you do will extend your period of pink-ness, including rubbing against a friendly vessel (or more to the point, being rubbed against).  I think this is why many choose to play PvE to work it off.

It was a gut reaction!  If I had done nothing, he may have annihilated the entire team.

What is the correct way to handle it?

Pink status labels you as a teamkiller, you need to do X amount of battles without team damage to lose the teamkiller status.

Ignore the fool, don't stoop to their level.

You did do the right thing. Stopping a snowball before it rolls down the hill is always the correct option. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, pink status or not. Everyone says so due to a wildly and forcefully adapted sense of ethical confusion developed over time due to the teamkilling of people who were pink before they even got a chance to play the game if it was an accident

Just wait till he finds torpedoes in his first destroyer or cruiser that has them.  I had one start launching them in the spawn point.  Not pretty.

Where do I find the number of Hail Mary's I need to redeem my soul??

IIRC, it's on the match results screen, "detailed" tab.

Don't train your guns on your teammates, regardless of how douchy they act.

Save replay and send to WG with report of the player.

I wish they would take into account previous team damage prior to making you pink. I had over 1200 battles with very minimal team damage and all it took was one DD who wasn't paying attention to turn me pink. Warned in advance, fired in a safe direction, verified that direction wasn't anywhere a reasonable DD driver would go....he pulls a 180 and takes 3 torps from my Mogami after driving towards them for 20 seconds.

*sigh* At least I'm not as judgmental about pinkies now.

Neither am I anymore.

I am judgemental, however, about how WG changed the TK penalty system.

Now real trolls can get off scot-free.

It's not possible to kill off the entire team. Once the offender turns pink themself, damage done to friendly players will be directed 100% back to him/her.

I went pink for the first time this weekend.

I just played in my CV to work it off as you don't tend to get rammed and the Fabulous planes are fun.

To take a loss- pay your repair fees, gain nothing, and overall be put in a really [edited]mood.

Because Wargaming likes that one retarded school policy that says if you fight back against a bully to PROTECT YOURSELF you're in the wrong just as much as them.

Meh...I would have put him down too. You start blatantly shooting friendlies around me and you will find yourself as a new artificial reef on the bottom of the ocean.
