Bismark Vs. Tirpitz

In the Upcoming Ranked season battles, It's supposed to be tiers 6 and 8. And for tier 8, I only have 2 ships that i feel reliable enough in to really compete. And they're the Bismark and the Tirpitz. So my question to all of you players is which do you think will be more Viable for Season 5. The Bismark has better AA and Secondaries, as well as Hydro, so it feels better at protecting herself from say DDs and CVs. On the Other hand, the Tirpitz has Torps and a Heal. So it feels better at leading a charge. I have a Fairly Agressive Playstyle, but I know ranked requires a different set of skills and tactics than Random battles. So Which ship is better for Ranked, and How should I try to play it to increase my chances of winning. Also tag which commander skills i should use, if you'd like. Thank you!

Bismark, why? Better secondarias (my have 10.6km range) gonna make a hell for dds cap, and hydro.

Tirpitz have heal and torps but you need get close to use the torps, in a ranked is more a dd hell on caps and camp for bbs.

It's hard to say what the meta will be in this season of ranked, but there will likely be Bensons galore, so a secondary spec Bismarck with hydro will probably be the best option.

Love the secondaries on the Bismarck but, i like the torps on the Tirpitz for the up close and personal battles.

Bismarck, for reasons of 10k+ secondaries and Ye olde German Hydro.

Bismarck is much stronger against DDs than Tirp thanks to those secondaries and ranked meta tends toward BB/DD. They really only reach their full potential with 15-pt captain tho. I'd vote for Bismarck if you have a 15-pt capt for her, or Tirpitz if you don't and cant get one quick enough

Yeah, I had a Derp Moment. Bismark is my only ship that has 4 consumables(i think) Damage control, repair party, Spotter plane, and Hydro. And the General Consensus is that Bismark is going to be better, so i'll make sure to work on her. And if the Meta(however unlikely) is a CQB Style i'll switch to my Tirpitz because Torpedoes FTW

That said, I lost to a Tirpitz in a brawl this weekend as my Bismarck did not have torps, but he did.

I went bow on against another Tirpitz bow on and my secondaries opened fire at 10.5km, and with my main battery firing HE too, I had him burning with 3 fires, and a couple of the HE shells disabled the torpedo tubes on the side closest to me.  He immediately turned away from me and attempted to flee, never having a chance to fire the torpedoes.  The secondary withering fire really acts as a deterrent for any ship to close the range with you, Tirpitz included. 

 

In the same round, I went bow on (slightly angled) with a North Carolina, and he turned away in identical fashion, eating secondary rounds as he fled, burning.  As he was running, he then only had a single main battery turret available to fire, which was basically bouncing off my ship at the range we were at (>5km).

​In this update WG did up the range of 2nd battery of Bismarck and not the Tirpitz.  Can WG plz up range the 2nd battery guns on Tirpitz so can be same as all Tier VIII BB.

Tirpitz would be broken if it had the same performance secondaries as Bismarck. 

Bismarck is already a no go zone within 10km for a lot of ships, give that to tirpitz whom already has a set of torps on each side would be suicide for ANY enemy ship period.

The Bismarck is plain better. Better AA, Hydro, secondaries, etc. The only thing going for the Tirpitz is the torps, but most players will avoid them.

Bismarck brings more to the table.

 

Potential 10.6km secondaries is nice, especially if you're plowing through with a screen of ships.  DDs finding targets and Bismarck's Main & Secondary Batteries chiming in.

 

Hydro access however is very enticing.  It will help on the attack and give torpedo warning for the team and help flush out nearby DDs.  Combine that with the great Secondaries, that's a good package.  If Hydro is on CD, then launch a Cat Fighter.

 

I'd say Tirpitz is always going to be the superior Knife Fighter between the 2 BBs.  But Bismarck, IMO, is the far better force multiplier.

I went head to head with a Yamato last night, and I did 70k fire damage to it.  Basically, the secondary battery was having trouble MISSING against the Yamato.  I switched to HE on the main battery and I burned his butt to the ground, and finished him with a citadel hit with AP.  It was glorious, 99k damage done to him total.  The secondary battery was a significant contributor to the success.

In an intermediate ranged BB fight, both Tirpitz and Bismarck are equals... They're mediocre.  I'd take Amagi and NC any day of the week if fighting at intermediate ranges.  Most especially Amagi with her tight salvos.

 

In Brawling ranges of 6.1km to 10.6km, Bismarck is better because of secondaries.

 

In a Knife Fight of 6km or less, Tirpitz is completely superior due to her combination of secondaries and more importantly, torpedoes.

 

For team utility, Bismarck is better because of her total package of secondaries, Hydro.

I don't have the Bismarck but looking at the stats I'd say:

Bismarck at all range is better against aircraft

Against ships at long range they're the same

At intermediate range the Bismark's secondaries give it the edge against all ships but I'd say especially destroyers who are tough to hit with your main guns

At short range the Terpitz has the edge with torpedoes against slow moving battleships

 

As a history nerd, I bought the Terpitz because it was a Bismarck class battleship. But the Bismarck has a much more bad [edited]legacy.
