Well, there is the Campbeltown, but I can see why you mean something other than that. A German destroyer is of particular interest.

I think that the Brits need a premium cruiser more than a DD at this point.

But what's the sweet spot for either nation? T5?

with the MM the way it is currently, uptiering T5 into tier 7 games commonly, I would rather it be T7.

The current meta makes tier 7 the sweet spot at the moment.  Cruisers are still mostly viable, the ship classes are well defined, and the preferential tier 4 mm means that 7s see a disproportionate number of top-tier games.

Edit: BAH!  The crow beat me to it!

Z32 as a T8 German premium to tie in with both Blyskawica and Haida at the Battle of Ushant I think is among the best options. One of the Battle of Narvik ships could also be considered.

For a Brit, my choices would be a Tribal (although Haida may cover that and I think there's a possible tech tree Tribal) either Tartar or Cossack, or a J/K/N class at T7. Kelly may be deserving, but Javelin was also at Ushant so might be good there.

Another option I'd like to see would be HMS Encounter or HMS Electra. We're getting HMAS Perth, Houston is a popular request as is Exeter and I think they'd be a nice T6 choice tying into the Java Sea, both went down fighting and have links to other ships and engagements.

Blyskawicca is a tribal class destroyer isn't she?

don't worry, light cruiser HMS Belfast is your answer but who knows when it will arrive :look:

Blys is a Polish Grom-class DD. It was comparable to the Tribal-class but totally unrelated ship (other than it being built in Britain.)

From what we've seen, HMCS Haida will be in the Commonwealth tree with HMAS Perth. The Tribal class fits perfectly at Tier 7 and is too famous to leave out. Actuality very likely the best RN destroyers of the war.

Hopefully both! Though there's a lot of competition for T7 tree DD in the RN line.

Though the Commonwealth tree is a bit weird... Britain's not part of the Commonwealth?

As for best destroyer of the war, the later Weapon/Battle class did come later and might be higher tier (counting Daring as missing it) but were less about surface action, with lower numbers of modern DP guns, better AA and anti-submarine fits. I think the Tribal's would contend with the JKN and LM for title of best destroyer, depending on criteria. If you lost one of the twin 4.7in's for a 4in secondary then in-game the JKN would have the same primary battery and double the torpedoes. An LM with 4x2 4in and 2x4 torpedo tubes could also be a glorious thing.

The problem with Britain is that they easily have enough British premium ships to fill out their premium tree. If you put all the Commonwealth premiums in there, it might get crowded.

Blys is the only other member of the Grom class. ORP Grom goes down in infamy for being overenthusiastic with its offshore shelling, not distinguishing Norwegian civilians from German troops during the Norwegian campaign.  A Heinkel bomber put an end to that destroyer.

Probably the best German destroyer I can think as a premium would be ZH1 which is based off a captured Dutch destroyer of the Gerard Callenburgh class, well its the GC herself.  This one had Germanized weaponry, her sister the Isaac Sweers went to the British and got British armament instead.  ZH1 sank in the battle that included the Blys and the Haida.  Sweers was sank by the Luftwaffe sometime before.
