Pink Status removed for the best or luckiest of us...

I've been thinking about this for some time?

 

What if you had the greatest game of your life,(top of the team list, numerous awards, etc..) but in it a low-life noob with a WN8 rating of about roughly 2 runs into your carefully aimed torpedoes cause he's just that bad, or worse,  he intentionally runs into them and gets TK'ed?

 

In either case, you are treated like the horrible, no-good, scum-of-the-earth TKer with a WN8 rating of 0 the system thinks you are.

 

But, stop there. What if, say, this didn't happen anymore, the system would punish you, but not make you pink?

 

This would not be 100% reliant on damage of course, but damage would be a huge factor in it.

 

My reasoning goes, is most real TKers(the socia-path scum) aren't good players, and they can't be first when they TK someone often, and besides, they won't get a chance to do much positive damage(against the enemy) anyway because they would be

destroyed.

In 2500 games I was pink twice, It happens. But I think we are all past it and no one even comments about you being pink in chat anymore. Do your 5 games and move on.

Just because someone is at the top of the team in a battle doesn't mean he isn't a total team killing jerk.  Matter of fact, I'm sure there is someone that would be aggressive enough to earn tops of the team but also damages those he thinks doesn't play the way they should and also kill teammates before they steal his kill.

 

Another words, I see no problem with the current pink system.  And I have been pink twice for a total of ten games to max.

In over 3K matches ive been pink twice; first time was for blowing up a would be tker with 14" guns - he was trying to torp me and our CV at the start.  Second time I had a rear gun clip the rigging of a friendly and set him on fire.  Granted I don't torp as much but there have been a few hundred or so salvos without incident.

Matter of fact, I believe that those you mention should be turned blue at least, and reported. Pink is a minor annoyance, but it is still annoying.

 

Besides, no one mentioned my point about griefers, either. Should we just act like we allow that stuff by not addressing it?

 

edit: Sure, I'm not a great player, if you want to make an ad hominem for some stupid reason, however, my point stands on its own.

 

edit again: Says the player who owns the Gremy, which can't make proper torpedo walls. You barely played the Minekaze at all.

I turned "pink" for the first time today for trying to help a DD on my team against a red DD...he had 125HP remaining and with the help of a god awful RNG spread I hit him for his last 125HP. Being somewhat new I did not realize the "team killer" moniker stayed with you so long. I figured it was like WOT's. It does seem kind of excessive to me tbo.

Few players think much of it, anymore. It is common enough even among good players that the stigma is all but gone. Also... welcome to the game!

I went into the Japanese line late and messed up my Minekaze a little when I tried the accelerated torpedo skill.

 

Besides, at the end of Beta, you could buy your way in, which I did.  I don't play the Gremy that much anymore.  And I would never say I'm a good player, it's hard for me to get in the top five players for damage/XP.

 

As from my experience, I've launched torpedoes in the aft area of another friendly ship or two before, only for them to change directions during their maneuvers.  Accidentally hit or not, I "heard" an earful.

 

But after those matches you turned pink, no one cares that much in the later battles.  It's more of a warning to watch more carefully what Pinkie is doing, more so in a DD.  Being pink in WoWs is easier to do and is just uncommon to see.  It does not have the stigmatism of being blue in WoT, which is harder to do accidently.

 

And with the current system, team killing players get to the point that they can no longer damage teammates.  Any additional damage they would have done gets mirrored back onto their ship.  I may have seen this only once in an actual game though.  And I'm sure some, like in WoT, have found a way to be close enough to the boundary for team damage with only getting limited disciplinary actions.

 

I just don't see a need to change the current system for those odd occurrences you mentioned.  And when it comes to it, doing launch torpedoes when their is a friendly ship anywhere within your torpedo arc and range.

You launched those torps...you own what happens as a result. 

I had one guy during one game who intentionally turned toward my torps and tried to catch as many as he could...bragged about it, even.  Yeah, he was a jerk.  But, I still put those torps in a place where he could get hit, so part of the blame was still mine even though he wanted to get hit.

 

It took 3,200 games for me to make an error bad enough to turn pink.  I went to Coop for 6 games and worked it off.  No big deal.

Take your spanking and move on. I got pinked when I first started playing and it was totally my fault. Chalked it up to not having enough experience. I honestly haven't run into people purposely trying to get hit our someone trying to shoot their own teammates on purpose except once.

Pink discourages aggressive play. WOW does not even remotely has the TK issues other games have. In fact, I've not seen a deliberate TK in months.

That Halloween event created quite a few pink players.  I got killed twice during that event.....players shooting torpedoes across everyone's path, and other players having to do a lot of zig zagging to keep from getting hit from those big flaming catapults.

Imo the system isn't harsh enough. I feel that torpedo dmg should instantly reflect dmg to the one that fired it (even before turning pink) then maybe people will learn when to fire and when not.

At this point only the guy at the receiving end of the torpedo is really getting shafted as his play time gets cut short and theres no more compensation since the new service cost overhaul.

No TK status should only be removed after one completes the required penalty battles also team damage being reflected onto the shooter should stay just the way it is reflected only onto the shooter while he is in tk status.
