Any more of a chance that Cluster Firing HE causes, or can cause more damage?

As the title states...

I seem to be seeing a sharp rise in fires/cits and higher damage rolls for HE when fired as a cluster vs. ripple-firing even if all the ripple-fired shells hit and do damage.

I generally use ripple for fast maneuvering targets.

Maybe my perception is skewed.

Seems if each shell has it's own math, then cluster vs. ripple would be moot, right?

Is there any math that says a single shell's math changes when combined with others?

Thoughts?

I don' think there's anything like that. But i think dispersion is worse when firing individiual turrets, maybe that has something to do with the number of fires you're getting.

No, it's not. RU devs have said that dispersion rolls don't change for salvos vs ripple fire.

If you're firing one turret at a time you're hitting more places on the enemy ship.  That means more fires.

A location on fire cannot catch on fire.  So a location taking a full load of HE has a good chance of starting one fire.  the same 9-12 hits spread across 4 zones will have a much better chance to cause multiple fires.  Plus, you're less likely to derp the entire salvo info the belt where it can't do anything.  No chance of fire if it hits belt, just deck and superstructure.

Thanks for your replies.

Accounting for things like dispersion and obviously not being able to set fire to something already on fire, then I guess I am left with the conclusion I am deluded and should run for president.
