My last 3 games from the PT server.  Kraken and 137k dmg in the Essex and I get SIXTH out of 12 players? LOL. 

180k dmg in Taiho and 2 kills and I get 1450 XP? LOL

Normally, after these games I'd expect to be top 3 if not top in XP. Now, I should just hope to be in the top half of the team. 

Yeah, the new economy definitely "fixed" things....

But, did you have your carrier up tanking damage, spotting for allies, and trying to cap zones :trollface:

 

(Don't worry, it's going to hurt more than just CVs, it's also going to be a pain to the few ships that are actually built to hang back and provide long range fire.)

Well, for one, you don't need to spot with your ship. Spotting destroyers with fighters or similar is beneficial to the team and will get you that XP. Additionally, blocking caps with bombers is another good way to earn XP. Other than that, those numbers don't seem terrible. That Kraken game was pretty low damage, no Confederate or anything. Barely deserved the Kraken too, only getting it by securing that Hindenburg. 137k damage isn't really all that high either. 

 

Really, these numbers don't seem all that low to me.

So, I have had a game in my hak where i hit 234 k damage yet only got 2010 base XP. Here is a hint about base XP earnings. XP earnings are based on the percentage of damage you inflict to a target, not on raw damage done. AKA killing a destroyer is worth an equal amount of credits and XP as killing a battleship. CV drivers have a nasty tenancy of tunnel visioning exclusively on enemy battleships and ignoring anything else so its onyl natural that XP and credit earnings are rather low for the amount of damage done, since they are often targeting the highest HP ships.

 

Also the economy is changing so that people that only focus on dealing damage will earn less XP. Want to do well in the new economy, you have to start doing more than just tunnel visioning on sinking enemy battleships. Start working on that spotting of enemy DD's, help allied DD's contest caps, craplike that.

Yeah, if a CV was a normal ship. But a CV isn't. A CV shoots down planes, spots things, delivers Air Support, escorts allied ships, etc..

 

The point(and problem) is, CVs don't get rewarded much for a great CV-style battle, they get rewarded greatly for a great non-CV playstyle battle.

 

This is really not fair. Everyone else but the other Class who's profits stem directly from interaction with CVs, USN Cruisers, get rewarded fairly.

Hm, almost like they look at statistics and data to see if something is too good, if it sucks, or if a change they're making doesn't have the desired results that they're after.

Someone created a thread to say the same thing crying over that.  Even funnier that Octavian went out of his way to say that's far from the truth.

Or maybe it's because someone at wg realized the nerf wouldn't have the desired affect. 

 

But I understand the desire for that aspect to be ignored in favor of the story that you like better.

Oh common we know WG dont want players have fun in a cv.

 

Lets see:

 

Most expensive class.

Most dificult class to play.

Most time for upgrade ships/modules (need upgrade everthing in EVER tier).

Get a nerf in EVER patch. 

 

Now you be on first on cv? Oh, thats cant happens, only BBaybies are allowed to do that ... so... nerf the points for you cvs!

I really don't see how this is much of a change from how CV economics work right now.  If anything, it's a buff to it, because their base repair costs went way down (Taiho is something like 82k now if you don't take damage) with the repair rework.  Other ships just get more XP for the things they do now.

 

Example: This was a match on the live server from about a month ago.  1703 XP for 194k damage, a Witherer, and 16 plane kills in a Shokaku.

Is that really so? I don't mean to step on any toes, but you seem to be doing much better with carriers than with cruisers or destroyers. So I have to wonder, what are you basing this claim on?
