How many World of Warships players think Daylight Savings is one of the most unnecessary practices this century, the way I see with Daylight Savings time is by switching the clock forward an hour, I lose/deprive myself an hours of sleep and by switching it back I gain an hours sleep over in New Zealand there are people including myself who see Daylight Savings as a unecessary practice

I never saw the point to DST.  Back in the 70's during the Great Manufactured Energy Crisis sponsored by Big Oil, it was billed as a way to save on energy.  What crap.

Do away with DST.

Still, in the summer I'd rather have daylight until 9 PM than have the sunrise at 4 in the morning.

I guess you knew DST was first proposed by a NEW ZEALANDER in 1895.

Before I went into the IT Industry, I was a Volunteer Ambulence Driver in Wellington, first week of Daylight Savings is really a toll on the elderly as a lot of calls for help are mainly from retirement homes or daughters or sons who are freaked out because their elderly parents are going through a heart attack or stroke while visiting their elderly parents home during the first week of daylight savings, strokes and heart attacks and its been proven by the medical profession that Daylight Savings Time is unnecessary and also changing the clock forward an hour means you're literally derpiving yourself an hour worths of sleep

I know that but it is a very silly practice and at worst it should be a practice that should be done away with

Daylight Savings Time, some countries before spring change the clocks forward an hour which means you lose an hours worth of sleep, at the end of autumn some countries change the clocks back by an hour which means you gain an hours worth of sleep

Yup.

There has been some discussion here in Massachusetts about moving to the Atlantic time zone, which would permanently shift our clocks ahead an hour.

Electric lighting wasnt always a thing, this idea was created before we primarily lived in cities and when many people still worked in agriculture.

Old habits die hard. Honestly doesnt bother me, I like the extra evening light in the summer especially so I can do more outside and in the winter it doesnt get dark in the evening quite as early which is nice. The further from the equator the more useful the daylight changes are.

Yes, it's like tradition now...

Funny thing is over the years, the period of Daylight Saving became longer.  I remember when it used to be like April - October, now it's moving from March - the first week of November.

Up here at Ice Station Zebra (Northern North Dakota)...the sun rises around 4:30 AM and doesn't go down until almost 11:00 PM. Kinda funny when they say "last call" when it was dusk only an hour or so ago.

DST makes a huge difference here at 53 degrees latitude....

Midsummer, the sun rises at 5:00am and sets at 10:00pm.

Without DST, it would be rising at 4:00am and setting at 9:00pm

Near the end of December, the sun rises at 9am and sets at 4pm... meh.
