Older ships looking very outdated....

Hey all,

I love playing this game, and one of the reasons is because I love watching my ships over and over (and yours after I die!!!) during the matches. This is also a reason I do not play CV ;) yet at least.... Anyway, I came to see that the older models look really outdated and bad, compared to the newer models. I do not know if you know what i mean, but compare for instance a Eugen, or Atlanta, etc with any of the Japanese DDs (American DDs)...you can see the windows are all not really sharp with the DDs and the details on the deck etc are really weak, but with other ships it looks almost like the real deal....

Any idea if this will be worked over anytime soon? I think WG should do a make over on some ships, it is needed.

I think all of the old armor models have already been updated. They've been at it for some time.

Yeah, but some ships still retain a ugly sheer. I tell you, it seems like some ships only glisten in the Hawaii Premium port!

Hmmmm, i never noticed this. Probably because my graphics settings are so low.

It's never really stuck out to me enough for it to be bothering.  I still think the detailing is great.

 

You can try working on your anti-aliasing if you want better detail on your ships.

Speaking of that, why doesn't this game have any proper anti-aliasing? From what i know, FXAA is not real anti-aliasing, it's just a post-rending filter.

I do have to say, the IJN BBs do look a bit dated compared to some of the newer ship models.  Their size makes it a bit more noticeable than the DDs.

The only thing that makes the older ships look bad is the overabundance of rust on the default skins.

 

More recent ships have had less rust, and premiums have very little to no rust on their textures.

A big part of it for me is how they did the bridge windows on a lot of the older models. They look very two dimensional and baked on as opposed to looking like an actual bridge.

 

Nagato is especially egregious for me.
