Any thoughts on the Bayern? I've been working through the German BB line and this ship is next up. Any advise would be appreciated.

get the secondaries captains skill level 1 and have fun brawling -- dont brawl tier 7 german BBs tho ... torps

It has a Citadel. It just has a very large immune zone and you have to know where to aim. 

 

It's only OP if you're too incompetent to learn how to fight it instead of just whining about its OPness.

Or hone your torpedobeats. 

 

It's pretty obvious when Gneis/Scharn turn to unmask torps. Their torps only work against the foolish unless it is truly knife range. Be proactive instead of reactive and you won't eat a torp at 4-6 km distance.

its a fun ship, although i liked the kaiser and konig more. 

 

really no surprise, but at long range the guns are less than reliable. at medium range you will get a lot of penning shots, and the secondaries are great up close (especially if you have AFT, BFT and secondaries mod etc). 

 

its speed is OK as is the AA, range is gimped due to no plane at all. i was ambivalent towards bayern, but the gneis is a wonderful reward.

I've got to say that the Kaiser is my best ship so far and the Konig is progressing. My game play is still a work in progress but this game is a great combination of fun and frustration.

get the aiming module.  dispersion goes down to 208 or is it 204.. I like shooting with the Bayern

Best ship in its tier in the German line. This is my absolutely favorite German BB pound for pound and she looks great too. Only thing she doesn't have is good speed and quick turret traverse. The toughest thing about her is the pain and longing you will feel when you move on to Gneisenau.

​Interesting. I hated Kaiser. Stupid wing turrets are useless. They have massive distances to traverse and they are SLLLOOOOWWWWW.  Konig is much better due to a better gun layout. It is fine against its own tier. 12" is punishing when you end up in an up-tier match though. New Mexico, Arizona, Warspite and Bayern will just angle in on you and ignore your peashooters. You really are mainly fighting cruisers and DDs at this tier. I won't even talk about fighting T7 BBs.

​You'll love it. German ship design really hit the mark with that one. I really think it is the best in tier.
