Gneisenau and Bismarck guns, the same?

Forgive if this subject was already covered. I tried the search, but did not find the subject. Anyway, stat-wise the Gneisenau guns look identical to the Bismarck's. Is there some unlisted data (like a penetration value) that makes the Bismarck's guns better at tier 8? Otherwise, it appears as if the Bismarck will be facing tier 10 ships with tier 7 guns. Pleasd enlighten.  Thanks.

Bismarck has 2 more of them with increased range.

Yes, they are the exact same guns, but Bismarck also gets two more of them with more range due to the naturally improved fire control system the Bismarck has over the Gneisenau and the Bismarck's secondaries can reach out over 10km which is HUGE

 

If you want an example of something that still does well while having the same guns one tier higher, look at Konig. It actually loses two guns from the Kaiser but it is still a great ship.

Konig also gets ww2 era AP shells that dramatically boost the penetration. Its not really a fair comparison there. 

 

Iowa/Montana have the same guns. Nagato/Amagi have the same guns. AZ/NY have the same guns..or should, although I can't remember if they share the same shell or not. It's certainly not uncommon. BB gun pen doesn't tend to have too drastic an effect on their performance, its more about overmatch mechanics. the german 15'' guns do start to feel a little underpowered in high tier matches though.

One way to put it, the Gneisenau has tier 7.5 caliber BB guns on a tier 7 BB!

Bismark, Tirpitz, and Gneisenau all share the 380mm rifles. Gneisenau has one turret less than the other two but otherwise same rifles on all three ships.

You even play USN DD's? Tier 5-10 all get the same guns. The only standouts are the tier 6 Farragut which gets an extra 1.5km range, and the Gearing, which gets 6 guns instead of 4-5(depending on hull).

IJN cruisers have basically the same guns from tier 5 all the way to tier 9, with slightly increased range as they move up the tier.  Russian cruisers have the same guns from tier 6 to 8.  Guns are not the only thing that determine the effectiveness of a ship.

or the Gnes is murdering tier 5s with tier 8 guns

 

Personally I'm about to buy it and am wary of 6 guns.
