How would STS steel and other WW2 era steels be categorized according to SAE or equivelant?

I'm thinking STS is a nickel-steel or a nickel-chromium steel, but maybe it's something else entirely?

2335 - 2340?

3335 - 3340?

It's nickel-chromium with a bit of other stuff in it. 1.75-2% chromium, 3-3.5% nickel, and 0.35-0.4% carbon by weight were the acceptance standards.
