What is going on with the amount of horrible players lately?

Look I don't claim to be any sort of pro, but I think I do pretty good all things considered. My WR is roughly 55%, which is above average. However, lately and especially on the weekends I end up in teams with horrible players who do not support, sit behind islands and/or don't attempt to cap. The logical thinking of many people is just non-existent.

I really wish they had a ranking system where players who are repeatedly reported for plays poorly do not get games with those who are at certain personal rating/WR. It's really becoming a frustrating gaming experience.

Potatoes come in batches when you least expect them. I usually start a day in high tiers and if the first couple battles are unusually potato-heavy I just drop a couple tiers to where they can be farmed with impunity.

Check out my "20% fun" I had last night.

After 5 games, I had received well above my daily recommended serving of starch.

Sigh. Every time I get close to 50% win rate I get put in potato queue and pop off a huge loss streak. I'm about to give up on getting my 3x first-win bonus for the day. Can only carry so hard; I'm good enough to carry my load and then some, but not unicum enough to carry 11 players. :/

Yesterday mine was probably 30% after playing 15-17 games or so. I just really wish a ranking system would come out to separate the "plays poorly" from the good players.

Yeah, I didn't see much chance of it getting better, so I just quit for the night.

Yeah I have been having this problem as well.  I had 600 matches at 55% win rate and climbing however the last 100 or so matches I have played my teams can win at all and I have been averaging a 48% win rate.  My overall win rate has drop down to about 52.7% since I hit this losing trend and what is even more frustrating is that my damage, average XP, Kill counts, K/D, etc are all up so those loses don't seem to have anything to do with how I am individually playing.

I guess it is just bad luck but like you, the quality of players I have had on my teams lately have been very bad with players doing some of the most boneheaded things I have ever seen.

I believe your teams, like your shooting, are very RNG controlled.  I will go on long runs of wow everything is working. Lots of high damage pens good teams and wins... Then, you get the opposite.  For me the last couple nights have been very eye opening. Missing easy shots teams melting oh my!   Last night I missed a prinz eugen from 6km and then in another game hit a dead broadside Atlanta from 4km for 3k damage.  Those are usually instant deletions but not last night.   I log out, try again later today.

I confess I am doing horribly lately :(

I do bad some times too, some games I can only manage to do 50k damage in a Yamato, while others I'm doing 250k. The horrible I speak of are those especially dd's who immediately suicide, don't attempt to stop any enemy capping, sit in smoke without providing any spotting while enemy fires as spotted friendly.

Cruisers who'd rather shoot at BB's than shooting at the Khab 10km away setting the BBs on fire, etc.

Concurrent online players are lesds than 8k, there's no enough for your suggested method of match making.

Players are always horrible, it hasn't changed since alpha.

Another contributing factor is map design. WG likes to divide map into sections, if team splits at the start, it means one flank has zero influence on the outcome of the other. What you are experiencing is probably largely due to map design.

And of course, there's the game reward incentives. It's just more profitable on average to chase after damage than capping or doing anything else cooperatively. If you do enough damage, even a loss is better than a team work but no damage win - this is the root problem too all "crapplayers".

I think it's mostly a case of negativity bias. If you're on RNGesus' @#$! list for awhile, you tend to forget the fact that you also had an epic winning streak 2 months ago. Others posting that they are going through the same thing then creates confirmation bias.

That said, yesterday I ran a 42% WR over 19 battles in spite of posting excellent damage, K/D ratio, etc. Next week I'll probably end up with an 80% WR for a day or two, but the negative experience trumps the positive.

I have a 55% win rate too, but thankfully I don't care about my win rate, so when I hear the potatoes are out all I hear is the sweet, sweet sound of cruisers exploding when they're broadside to me. It's rare that the spuds are only on one team. Feast on the ones on the other team and enjoy it for what it is.

The tears from my Kiev crew still salt the ocean with that 3k damage fail.  When I do stay with my division mates it is amazing to see how coordination between two or three ships on one team can change the tide of war.  Yamato please say 'Hi' to Fletcher and Gearing torp spam.  Over the long term I see my W/R being carried by divisions but we all have those 25-40% days thrown in so we can go to bed early and cuddle with the wife.

I'm so surprised people find this phenomena so surprising. I mean good god look at tanks. Same thing happens there and has been happening there for YEARS. Guys the amount of player ratio around 50% is on a bell curve.

wcQAU5a.png

Now this is for tanks and they are talking WN8, but look at the percentiles and these pretty much remain constant in ships.  Like look at my stats. Even in ships I'm in the 82 percentile for player skill.  Players in the blue are in the 95th. Meaning they are in the top 5% of players. Me I'm in the top 18% at 53% W/R basically.  Most other people fall into the light green to Orange level. Barely treading water or around the average were most people who play this game sit.

Guys catch a clue. Bad teams/ potatoes are not the anomaly. THEY ARE THE NORM.  Get used to it, or get out.

Hah.  I was just thinking about about how good my teams have been recently.

My 7-day WR is currently above 70%, and this is definitely not normal for me.  I've had a share of good games this week, even a few I'd take credit for as carries, but I've also potatoed some games.  E.g., one game where I ran my Sims right in to a torp in the first 2 minutes of the game, another where I completely derped in my Indianapolis, causing <5,000 dmg.  But my team won both these games, and quite a few others where my play wasn't quite so bad but definitely wasn't stellar.

Seems that lately whenever I potato, MM has placed me on a team with others who can pick up the slack.

So... yeah.  Thanks MM!  Don't know how long this luck is going to last but enjoying it while it does. :great:
