I just finished a standard battle on the Trident map while trying to get my sea-legs back in the Farragut. After finding and helping finish off a Minekaze I turned to find more targets but most of the enemy was moving to the other side of the map. At that point I declared my intention to hunt further south where enemy planes were coming and going. I found the enemy Bogue and started closing with him. I noticed on the minimap that our CV, another Boque with an air superiority package, was sending two squadrons of fighters toward me. This was totally unexpected because I don't see this happen all that much and hardly ever on my behalf. No one asked for it in chat either which made me realize that htm15 (naming, not shaming) was very tactically aware and hungry for air targets. He very effectively kept red's DB and TB squadrons off my back until I could put down the red Bogue. My hat's off to you htm15 and others like you who support surface ship attacks like this. Bravo Zulu! CV's have a very large role to play in this game. This kind of smart play lives up to expectations of how CV's should support the fleet. Many of you CV captains fight really well and are very much appreciated but, IMHO, this singular effort on a DD's behalf was spectacular.

It takes awhile to resupply planes and resend them to allied DD's. Unfortunately it sometimes doesn't take that long for allied DD's to sink. I always try to spot for the team. Even when running strike, like I do in my Ranger, I will use DBs to spot, while the TBs go back to reload.

I notice you are DD heavy in your lineup and with a lot of premiums to boot. Me, I have a mix of everything (if anything, DD deficient). I don't buy premiums - I think that is a mistake considering what WG has done to WoT (& what might be creeping into WoWS). As to CV play - I try to spot even with a strike package - although after the initial flight & attack run I simply cycle the planes on attacks & seldom spot after that. My first choice with Fighters when I have them is to always spot, attack TBs & DBs and to counter enemy Fighters, of course (whatever I think is required). I find a good number of plane squadrons to handle plus moving my CV gives me not much time to play specific assist a certain teammate - I like to get DDs first w DBs, BBs or CVs w my TBs - Cruisers with either. My play is to cycle my planes as fast as possible to attack as much as possible. & yes, spotting as much as possible. As to DDs being covered by a friendly Fighter, I find a DD can survive air attacks by maneouver and I figure a DD is on it's own when it is hunting an enemy CV (as someone said, usually no one is close enough to assist you inc planes). It's great to know that there are CV players who genuinely care about the team and send the fighters out to protect the rest of the ships. Lately, I've been seeing more and more CV afks, but regardless, I pick the air superiority package for that matter. By doing so, I'm still much more able to help my teammates out!
