If you can survive nerfs, you can survive anything!!! Wargaming may have made German cruisers with glass hulls, but they can still be hard working breadwinners in your fleet. Here, by "favorite workhorse" I mean the cruiser that you enjoy playing the most. Please feel free to vote in this non-public poll and tell us why you like your choice the most!

We used to have many of these polls when the game launched, and had great discussions not only on ship selection, but also the strengths and the most effective ways to play each ship. As the game has greatly ̶n̶e̶r̶f̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶b̶u̶f̶f̶e̶d̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶p̶s evolved, I am eager to see what people today like the most. :aqua:

For your reference, I have pulled data from WarshipStats and recalculated kill/death ratio [should be KDR=SKR/(1-SR)]. I hope this helps.

I'm only at the Nurnburg so I would have to say Nurnburg. The range of the guns and the fires it sets.

Did I mention the FIRES.

I think Konigsberg is a bit OP, now that its rear turrets can do 360d rotation.

The Yorck was very different once I got it, but after a few games, I find I like it's play style the best. (Only have up to T8)

Yorck is by FAR my favorite. Konigsberg was fun, Nurnberg was utter garbage, and the Hipper is 'meh'.

I very honestly agree. After I had the Nurnberg for a few days, I had to scrap it.:D

Currently Nurnburg.  She has a minty Permacamo while being able to deliver either cool, minty AP or hot, cinnamon HE in constant bursts.  Especially while running away.  Her new hull also is lower in the water and has more AA to help ward off planes.

Prinz Eugen is looking to replace her though; not only is she a great trainer at T8, her exclusive thing is fast-training of KM captains.  And once her other permanent camouflage is released, will also be able to make even more Credits than regular T8 Premiums on comparable performance.

Nurnberg closely followed by the Emden because the Emden was captained by Karl von Müller a man of honor.

I made it up to the Hipper so far and like it quite a bit, but when I feel like having fun in a really good boat I often come back to my Koenigsberg. To me She just got the perfect mix of mobility, gun range/ damage/ firing arc and decent torps on top of that. And the 360 degree turrets are just great.

It's literally just the Konigsberg, a tier higher, that is bigger. And with the option to trade half of your torpedo armament (which is one of the few saving graces of Germans cruisers) and your catapult fighter for extra AA.

As much as I have enjoyed most of the German cruiser so far, I haven't liked most of them enough to keep. The Konigsberg is the exception. The Nurnberg and Hipper come close, though.

I don't think that the Nurnberg was "garbage".  It suffered from using the same guns as the Konigsberg, but at tier 6 and having to face up to tier 8 rather than up to tier 7.  Overall, the ship wasn't really all that bad.  It's that the guns that were so wonderful at tier 5 could only barely cut it at tier 6.

As for the Hipper, it has its good games and bad.  Sorta like the New Orleans.

Right now it's the Eugen but the Konigsberg is a great ship, so is the Nurnberg. The Konig has two rear turrets that can rotate port and starboard while facing forward. :)

I did okay in the Nurn, but that didn't stop me from passionately hating her. She's a sexy ship, and trust me, I REALLY wanted a reason to keep her like I did the Konigsberg, but in the end I just couldn't. Her long range arcs are so terrible, her HE is so abysmally bad, and even at optimal range, her AP lacks the punch to reliably pen things that are even mildly angled. She's bad in my books. The only ship in the German cruiser in the line I've actively disliked.

Yorck is my favorite so far, (no tier 8s yet) but I enjoy playing the Königsberg as well, and it earns a lot better.

Far and away Königsberg. You can't take a hit but what wonderful guns. Was even more amazing before they nerfed AFT on her, that was wonderfully OP.

I disagree that the Nurn is garbage, (more of an incremental downgrade, just because of the extra tier) guns are exact same as KBerg.

I did the same as you though. Kept the KBerg and ditched the Nurn. No point having pretty much the same ship with an extra tier tacked on.

Why do people love Hipper over Roon so much nowadays? Isn't Roon a much better performing ship than the Hipper??

Konigsburg.

I have and like both Emden, and Dresden. I also have Prinz Eugen; though for now I've parked it and don't know when I might use it again.

No plans to purchase or even touch anything else.
