I'm with OP. I push sometimes, I snipe sometimes. There's times and places for both. The fact is, I can hit at long range better than most other people. That puts me at an advantage at long range that I won't have up close. It helps being good at sniping. People who aren't don't get/understand it. It's not news to us snipers. Even the best sniper is magnitudes less effective than someone up close.

 

And your MB hit rate is pretty average, so, no, you're not better at long range than other people.

Maybe we should just report people that play BB's or Cruisers, have full most of their near the end of the game; and end up near the middle or bottom of the scoreboards. (or just with a pathetic score in general.)

Had a game earlier this afternoon, towards the end of a game we where loosing, a BB that was "long range sniping" turned and headed to a corner to " save repair cost" on his T5 , Don't recall his name...

His personality aside, it gets tiresome hearing people constantly complain about BBs not pushing. It seems people complain about BBs when they push and when they don't. If people want more BBs to help push then they need to stick with them and not turn tail at the first red ship sighted. I will help push and I will stick around, but I hate having escorts abandon me after I'm committed to the course.

BBs at the edge of the map = useless. Funny how the losing team is always the one with the heavy hitters cowering at the corner of the map furthest from the action, trying to land that 1 or 2 out of 9 shells. I will stick with the odd BB that wants to push, but its usually them that turns tail and runs.

It's funny because my average hits in BBs is better than both yours and the OPs, yet I find that my abilities in sniping are useless because I'm not contributing where it counts. I'll snipe by all means, but I'm not going to do it by choice.

Only when necessary. You know, when you're alone, but not stupid enough to take on an army.

 

3 situations/strategies to sniping for explanation

1) You are in a BB trudging along at the head of the fleet or near the head of the fleet. You find a opposing force far greater than yourself the distance, so you get shots in from behind cover or while maneuvering away with the team.

2) You are part of a smaller fleet or on your own ahead of the advance. You then hunker down to snipe while your teammates catch up.

3) You are a BB trudging along at the head of the fleet. You find a opposing force far greater than yours. You then say "c'mon team!" and the you get focus fired to nothing. (AKA wasting your ship)

or

4) You are a BB lazing about in the rear of the pack, and no matter the opposing side, use your teammates as meat shields.

 

Strats 1 & 2 being my go-tos, unlike OP who goes for strat 4 all the time.

Could not have said it any better. This is exactly the reason why battleships don't go forward. Everyone pees themselves at the mere thought that there may be an enemy ship nearby and runs away

You have the best armor, the most health, and the biggest guns on the battlefield, and you're going to throw that all away for your team by sitting 13km away missing 98% of the shots you fire because "muh hitpoints though"...like dude you have in some cases five times the hitpoints of a destroyer and 10x the armor, freaking USE IT. You and your kind are far worse than even the people who camp the back corner of the map in an E-100 in WoT...
