What line should I try?

With the upcoming dethroning of the USN DDs I just can't stomach continuing up the USN lines at the moment.

 

What should I try that has good, competitive ships throughout, with a good pay off at the end?

try german cruisers or russian DD, both really nice but not easy to play but impactufll if played right ( at tier 9/8 in those lines myself atm)

Depends on your play style. DE BBs are surprisingly good in our meta. People love to snipe, DE BBs are immune to sniping while simultaneously running up to your face and bashing it in.

 

VMF DDs are pretty easy to use and strong but a bit boring with their HE spamming till you get to the Udaloi

 

 

IJN CAs are similar VMF DDs. Spam HE with high accuracy at max range fkr many fires.

 

If you're looking for difficult line but fun, the DE CA line is pretty interesting. They have strengths and weaknesses similar to the USN line while retaining higher win rates, probably thanks to high velocity quick reloading guns

When is this supposed to happen? With the new IJN line?? I doubt very much there will be a "dethroning" (if they ever had a throne). Benson and Fletcher are great ships and will likely remain so.

The leaked stats say otherwise. The Tier 8 has 3 more guns and nearly 5k more HP than the Benson.

 

The Tier 9 has 1 more gun, and about 3k more HP than the Fletcher.

 

Both will fire an HE shell that is both flatter arced and completely ignores the armor of the USN DDs.

100% disagreed here.  Your speculation is based off of some unreleased and untested ships at this point.  Kind of being overdramatic, no?

We don't know if leaks are accurate. We don't know soft stats. We don't know a lot of things. Too early to scream the sky is falling.

Go Moskva, do an AA build, and post on the forums how Moskva kills planes better than Des Moines. (~8km Range DP guns)

I'm really excited about the IJN DDs. I don't like their current play style at all when I'm using them.

 

All that said though I've just kind of lost hope for the USN line. There is no excitement with them for me anymore. Why roll an Omaha and do 30k damage when I can take my Furutaka and do 80k?

 

I just don't want to be the guy burdening the team by playing ships that just don't stack up overall.

From what I can tell they will be better.

 

The IJN DDs will have more guns, flatter arcs, and more HP. That's a recipe for a really nice gun boat.

Slow turret traverse, huge turning circles, slow top speed, long reloads, and slow rudders make bad gunfighters at 6km.

 

Akizuki has 2 or 3 of those. Most IJN destroyers have all of those.

Because according to those leaked stats, new IJN DDs are very bad...Pepsicola level of bad. What you're missing is that flat gun arcs are only beneficial at long(er) ranges, while knife fights are all about turret traverse being able to keep up with the ship's turn and gun reload times. A "Khaba with 33kts speed" is not a very useful contraption, to put it mildly.

I'm not so convinced. Part of combat is situational awareness. If the guns start out pointing the right way I don't see how the USN DD wins. Not to mention flatter arcs which result in more hits.
