Everyone that receives one at some point during the birthday event for the next 2 weeks gets 25 detonation flags and the medal "Life and Soul of the Party".

Detonating sucks, so let's set aside the toxicity for a while and spread the good vibes (and flags) around!

Aye! I'll support this! :)

I always make sure to give out compliments when I see good playing, even to the enemy team. If they did a good job, they earned it. :)

I disagree.  I think that the entire Karma system should be removed.  It's nothing but a popularity system that punishes people who speak their mind.

I'll give a compliment to anyone who gets certain key achievements in a battle - Kraken, High Caliber, Confederate, and Solo Warrior. I also complement skilled players who didn't earn one of those achievements. And, I like to compliment those I see in battle from the forums. You guys and gals are always special... (yes, popularity)

I use them (usually close to the limit), but only when well deserved as I do not give them lightly. Same goes for reports.

Exceptional play? Check

Got a Kraken? Check

Carried the team? Check

A CV that either killed me fair and square or lit up my DD and took me out of the heat of battle by keeping me lit? Check

Bad behavior in chat (uncalled for salt-racism-etc.) or bad gaming skills, hurting team? Check

I normally don't compliment or report people, last night was only the second time I've reported anyone (first time was for a suspected bot) and I also complimented someone last night. Going forward, for at least the remainder of the birthday celebration I'll probably compliment people more for a well played game. I'm hoping that some players will return the favor even though I tend to have only mediocre games, although last night I did do pretty well in staying mostly under the cover of an island so me and an ally could pound on a BB without too much worry about his allies.

What about called-for salt?  lol.  Sorry, it made me chuckle a little bit.

I've been working on remembering to give out my compliments.  And right now in order to do so I'm trying to give them out for thins that make me chuckle or for those that show some team-play.

If you don't gift karma your karma will be blocked... you will become karmapated... and blockage of that type is not something you want to experience. So let your karma fly, fling it about freely for freely you were given, freely you should give.

Agree 100%.

The only time I've done it was in a battle perhaps a month ago against a player who was constantly doing something like this.  And when I sunk the offending player, I made a snarky remark in ALL chat something like: "Looks like (playername) fall down go boom."  Whatever I said, I turned around his annoying comment onto him for a little bit of chat justice.

Regardless, I'd have never done it if he hadn't been so annoying.  I certainly never go around saying "BOOM!" or "REKT" whenever I sink an enemy ship.  I prefer to let my guns and torps do the talking for me in those situations.

Seems to be more Poor Winners than poor losers lately.

Is it really so difficult to keep your fingers off the keyboard in a match if you have nothing positive to add?

Saying "haha" at the ship one has just sunk is in bad taste, it is poor character on the part of the victor. Conversely, a "gf" for good fight reflects positively on the victor, even if the sunk party was afk bot.

Or they don't use it at all.  I try to say nice things about good players and bit my tongue with bad...I looked at mine yesterday and saw it was at 3...So much for Karma.  :sceptic:

To see your karma rating go into your profiel in the game client.  I didn't know about this until a little while ago and didn't even know what Karma was  :child:

I like it when you nail someone big time and they put "ouch" or "ow" in the all chat. Tells me that player is a player. I try always to remember to gift them karma.

OTOH...sometimes I'll fire my DD guns a couple seconds before torps land.. or the other day, I typed "Special delivery for the fuso" when I launched torps. It took a good ten seconds for them to reach. Once they hit and sunk him, I typed "delivered". Something along those lines ;-)

So how would you classify the below comment from a DD captain made to a BB or CA captain that just sailed in a straight line at the same speed even after said DD captain was spotted lining up his torp run only 3-5 min into a battle???

"Maybe next battle try using WASD hacks if you want to survive longer"

Now that is perfectly cool to type, if anything, you're giving the fuso a heads up! lol  comments like those are what put a smile on my face.

There's enough tension in the game as is, no need to add more with cruel or rude comments, but fun ones help take the edge off.!

At the start of a battle I will sometimes use one of the following sayings:

1.  Time to feed the sharks

2.  Time to feed the fish

3.  Lifeboat drills will commence in five minutes

4.  I told you hard a port but nooooo...  So shut up and keep rowing.

While taunting people when you've sunk them is in bad taste and classless, I don't agree with this idea of "if you have nothing good to say, say nothing".  Mind you, I'm also not saying that to justify classlessness, etc.  But telling someone who's made a stupid mistake that they've done just that isn't classless.  It may be a bit harsh, but not everyone is a mealy-mouthed diplomat either.
