Do you get XP for hitting modules?

It has been said that the XP formula gives out XP based upon the percentage of damage you do to an enemy vessel.  IOW, 500 damage against a Yamato earns very little XP, while that same 500 damage on a Tachibana earns more.

 

So what about modules?  If I hit an enemy DD and take out some AA guns and his rudder, but do no direct damage to his HP pool, do I get 0 XP?
