Minekaze goes where?

If I have a Minekaze when the new IJN line gets released, will I get Minekaze on the new line (the Akizuki line) or will I get it replaced with Mutsuki (on the original line)?

I'm getting the impression that it'll get replaced and that you'll have to grind the Minekaze again.  Thankfully it's the same tier as before so it shouldn't change much if at all, so if it was fun the first time around it should still be competitive the second time going.

I am more worried about the "adjustments" to current ships ( for adjustments see the difference in the language in the links below ).  Also I'm curious if the Kamikaze R, which was both a reward ship and was sold in the shop will also get "adjusted" in any way the Minekaze does?  If that is the case won't that violate the " we don't nerf Premiums that we have sold " principle that has been stuck to so tenaciously with Gremy and Nikolai  and for which the ridiculous buffs were given to Kutuzov when the AFT nerf happened?

It is also interesting to note that the descriptions of what will happen are notably different in the announcements made on the SEA and NA servers.

SEA http://worldofwarships.asia/en/news/common/japanese-destroyer-incoming/

NA http://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/new-jpn-dd/

This isn't their first rodeo with regards to starting a branch line and shuffling a few vehicles around in a tech tree. They do good to the players when this stuff happens.  5 years in WoT and they always gave me a ton of stuff when this stuff happened. Have no fear for loss.

The answer is nowhere since the IJN high tier DDs have all been eclipsed by the Soviet and US DDs. Even their torpedoes are better due to the IJN nerf to torpedo view ranges. But maybe I'm just salty.

That's good to know but there are still unanswered questions.

When my Mutsuki drops to tier V I'm owed because I've researched and paid for a tier VI ship but will it be the Fubuki or Hatsuharu.

The 49903 in ship XP stays at tier VI but again do I have any option as to use it on the main branch or the side branch.

Will I have no option of accessing the side branch other than rebuying the Minekaze and grinding through her again.

Everyone assumes that the ships being dropped in tiers will have to be nerfed but by how much or is this new branch just an opportunity to backhandedly answer the problem of tiers V and VI being constantly bottomed tiered by the MM. They pretty much would still be fighting against the other ships they were game designed to fight.

In any case I'd want to play the new Mutsuki in it's new tier before I gave it up. One never knows it might turn into another Isokaze; it being so much fun to play at that tier I'd never consider giving her up.

Which brings up the problem of port slots and Captains. I have plans for both of my open port slots so I would hope that what ever Tier VI ship I get for a replacement it doesn't take away one of those slots. I also don't have a captain prepared for the new Tier VI ship either unless I do get rid of the Mutsuki.

Anyone else feeling like a mushroom these days.:D

OMG! Lets be honest here; how many of you are actually going to have a problem re-grinding a Minekaze?

(And how many fun-filled hours are you going to enjoy seal-clubbing your way through a DD you already know and love with a Captain who is close to, if not fully, trained up?)

You guys act like this will be a problem when in fact it will be a party!

I wish I could have your confidence, but their track record on working on DDs so far doesn't give me that same confidence, especially when WOWS isn't WOT.  Different people with different ideas, and yes, this -is- their first rodeo at making a branching line of ships with identical tiers of two ships, both of which a majority of players will have researched and owned, needing to figure out which one the player gets to keep and which is lost to the player.

The sad part is that they tell us to wait for the details when they -knew- their own official release was going to cause this, and they -will not- provide answers to these issues until they are already set to be put into the game.  So, for the next weeks or months, they intentionally let the players stew over answers they must already have decided when they made the decision the split was ready for announcement.

You are drunk as all [edited], minekaze is tier 5, tier 5 is not high tier.

Im kinda disappointed to have not been able to play the Fubuki at tier 8 since im halfway through the Hatsuharu  but I find it interesting that she is getting a downgrade of two tiers instead of one.

Sounds like you don't want people to plan for switch over if your going to wait until the day before the patch to announce how everything is going to work.  I mean I guess I understand this because I have managed to kind of abuse these situations in WoT to get extra tanks, slots and even earn a Tier 10 just by grinding out a Tier 9.  However knowing in advance is also good motivation to grind for specific ships so you can take advantage of the compensation mechanics.  I know it encouraged me to play about 1000 more battles in WoT grinding out my IS-4 and a few other lines to take advantage of things that I wouldn't have played otherwise.

Well if you want confidence, start off not being a pessimist. For one thing, their track record in DDs that aren't Japanese is pretty good Russians were OPAF and nerfed hard on release (didn't 100% fix it but omg imagine the pre-nerf Khaba) and US DDs had become pretty much vestigial unable to fill any role well. Now they really are the Jack of All Trades that we got told they were. Anyway, that's neither here not there.

What is important is this. The development studios are different. The publishers are the same. WarGaming know that a lot of their players, like me, are going to be out here telling people how things have gone for years. Now, not everything that worked in WoT goes for WoWS, but honestly it's about 95% transferable. The only real differences (to me anyway) are 1) Boats not tanks 2) No Bullsh... I mean... premium ammo, and 3) WoT's economy isn't as brutal. It's not like the Dev team are just making things with no guidance from their Publishing Overlords. It might be the Dev Team's first time, but it's their first time doing something that they already know how to do. Like the first time you go on a long trip to a place you've been to a hundred times before. You know the way. So do the WoWS Dev Team (I forget what the studio is called... something with an L). As for "which one they player gets to keep and lose." I will literally post a video of myself eating my own hair if they take ships out of people's ports. Not even kidding. It'll be like when Clarkson ate a Clarkson Hair Omelette on Top Gear that one time.

The key to getting the most out of these splits - Any vehicle that is moving or turning into something else. Buy it and keep it in your port. I'm going to buy a Minekaze and Hatsuharu ASAFP (Hatsu so I can get Shiratsuyu, and Minekaze so I can get any potential free stuff that might come from it). I already have Fubuki and plan to keep it, and Mutsuki is do bad that even as a tier 5 I don't want to play it, so I will leave that one alone.

I'm going to have to look into doing the same, the buying stuff... wanna lay it out in more detail or is that about it - buy a Minekaze and Hatsu... <yack>... and sit on them?

Does this mean I should suck it up and preemptively buy the Mutsuki? Would that unlock the T6 ships for me in the new tree or am I just throwing credits at a garbage fire?

Pretty sure what will happen is that if your top ship in the line gets changed, you should have the new ship that replaced it in unlocked, and if you own the old ship at the time of the change, you should have both new and old ship in your port. Everything before your highest tier unlock should be unlocked, but if you want to play it just to see how it is, you'd need to buy it and play it.

Example time.

I currently am up to Fubuki in the IJN DDs, and she is the only tech tree IJN DD I own. I plan to rebuy Hatsuharu as soon as I can (thinking about it, unless they change it, I probably won't buy Minekaze back, only Hatsu so I can get Shiratsuyu), so I'm going to pretend that I also own the Hatsuharu for this example. Say the patch dropped right now. I own Fubuki and Hatsuharu. What should I get?

If they keep the pattern from the last 5 years of WoT, I'd still own Fubuki and Hatsuharu. They would now be tier 6s. Since I got to tier 8 and owned Fubuki at the time of the new line dropping, I should own Kagero (now as a tier 8), and have Akatsuki unlocked, but not owned. If I want to know how the most Elephant Lady performs, I'll have to shell out the credits for her. On the branch line, all I would have is a Hatsuharu, probably any extra EXP I have laying around on her (probably none for me personally). I expect she would be fully upgraded, but she could be stock.

That is how I expect things to go. I base this off many changes in WoT, starting with US Heavy Tanks way, way back in the day in like 2012, and coming on up through until pretty recently when they swapped out the FV4202 (which IIRC worked a bit differently because FV4202 became a premium, and didn't just shuffle through the tech tree).

Better provide examples and scenarios.

For my case my Hatsu is almost done with XP to Fubiki. So the question for me is whether to keep the XP or research the Fubiki? If I research Fubiki, should I buy it now or later?

Thanks. I suppose buying and keeping a stock Mut until the new tree is introduced will help reduce my grind on the gunboat side of the tree and open up the other side if I ever desire that style of gameplay.
