What happened to Assault mode?

I remember in a public test this summer, we were testing the coop mode called assault mode. I really enjoyed this mode and I am wondering what happened to it. Is it in the game and it just hard to find like bastion or are they holding it till a future update?

There only for tier 9 10 matches and it every random. I do wish you could pick from a play list like a few games. you get free for all, team death match, death match, and so all. But that is just my idea. And I been told I am wrong on more then once.

I did not like it at the time.

There were issues and complaints so it was not included in the release.

Ah that proposed PvE mode. I like the idea, but im glad they care enough to take time to really look into it.

 

Also as much as I like it, I worry A LOT about it being added because some of these co-op players.... :facepalm:

 

...a full health Fuso losing to a 1/3 health bot Fuso....

 

...a Tirpitz loses a 1 on 1 with a bot Aoba...

 

yea I worry... :unsure:

I want an assault mode in random so bad.

 

We need something other than Dom and Standard until Bastion can be figured out. Has that mode been deemed too campy or something?

 

Seems to me it would make things easier with an obvious mission to either cap or defend.

Afaik, it was removed due to the issues with the current co-op MM timer not allowing enough time for full human teams to form, thus putting bots on the human team. This causes some major issues, because the bot programming has...issues...detecting friendly ships, a lot of the times causing TKs, or they just yolo into the enemy and die within the opening minutes...

 

Coupled with the new assault mode, this caused the issues to be even worse, so WG decided to take it out for now. I don't know when it'll be back in...I'm just hoping its soon, because I also really liked it. I just want them to also fix the co-op MM timer first though. It needs to be done asap.

It screwed over people in co-op by randomly throwing them into matches where they are fighting twice as many ships as they expect, and which are genuinely loseable. It turns out a good chunk of the people playing PvE are doing it with the expectation of doing something relaxing and easy, otherwise they'd play PvP.

I was and am still looking forward to seeing this mode.  I am not sure how they could fix it.  Maybe you need to specifically que for the assault mode so it does not piss off those who like the typical PVE play.  I just likte the idea of loading into a game and having a curve ball throw your way once in a while.  Assault mode would be fairly intense I would imagine.

I'd like to see a blockade breakout, where any ship managing to reach open seas is part of the victory condition. One team is trying to break out, and the other is trying to break free.

Could be balanced by making sure that for instance you need X amount of ships escaping, or say at least Y BBs and Z DDs to make it. Tweaking the amount of ships needed to break the blockade could manage to balance the mode for victory for both sides.

It was only tested on PT server and apparently WG was not satisfied with the results. I think that mode is too hard for mid tier CV players, if you are a CV spawning in the middle of "Fault line" with bots coming in from both sides and you will be in their sight before 2 min into the game, that game is going to suck 90+% of the time. Sometimes MM also fills half of your team with bots and they die way too fast to 2x enemy bots without doing anything. Other people also want more rewards for this mode because of its difficulty level.

They just need to add a gauntlet mode.  Where you have 8vs8, (or 4 vs 4 if not enough humans) but each time the 8 (or4) bots are killed, reinforcement pops-in.

Everybody in the team earns extra point the longer the games goes on ( to a max of say, 15min ), and obviously if you are the last survivor you'll get extra points just for doing damage.

Since it's co-op it wont break the bank, and would be interesting.


 

Never had a chance to play the mode, and I hope they add it back.

Effectively abandoned because wargaming was unable to figure out why cutting down the co-op queue timer in order to force less humans in a match would make the new 8V15 impossible.

Why would MM need to put bots on a team that's only half the normal size?

Because there were only 3 other players in queue at the tier I was playing...so they just filled with bots and the mode was basically unplayable...especially if you and the other players were playing BB's (which was often the case) because you just didn't have sufficient ROF to deal with DD's and CA's that were spaming HE and torps

Personally, I'd like to see a King of the Hill/Last Man Standing mode. It starts out as a standard Domination match, but if one side is successful in taking out the entire opposing team, everyone's stats are frozen, the losing team goes to the end screens to see their totals and move on to their next match, the game timer is set to a 5 minute countdown, and everyone left in the game turns red. It then becomes a free for all. If the ships remaining are reduced to one before time runs out, that person gets a bonus prize of XP and/or credits (based on how many ships were in the free-for-all), and a new medal. If two or more survive, nobody gets anything. Damage taken during the free-for-all is not counted against the player. Only the damage taken and experience earned against the original enemy will show up on the end screen. This is meant as a battle for a winner-take-all prize.

 

The main drawback I see at this point is how to break up divisions fairly, since using teamspeak would give them an unfair advantage. There might have to be a minimum number of ships required to still be alive before entering this mode (3 or 4?).
