Man I really hate these 12 day only premium ship speed rounds. I actually want the Scharnhorst, but I don't get paid until the 29th...the day it goes away. That really sucks guys. These 12-day (and sometimes shorter) premium ship deals are really getting old (especially on a monthly income) because it means that if you don't have the money for a ship you might want right there and then you're pretty much F---ed.

 

I got to miss out on the Saipan and Arizona too and barely got the Indianapolis in time.

 

I really hope the Scharnhorst, Arizona, and Saipan make it on the gold techtree eventually.

 

Now I know what many of you might say "don't worry about it we get the Gneisenau in the tech tree." but at tier 7 the Gneisenau will be a money EATER as opposed to a money maker.

 

It would be a LOT less of a frustrating crunch if WG offered their premium sales for at least a month or two before yanking them.

 

At least I have the Dunkurke for a boobie-prize I suppose.

 

Still watching ship after ship after ship sail right on by on account of simply not being able to just magically pull a pile of money out of thin air on such short order certainly does a number on the ole game loyalty, especially if you're a ship buff as I am.

Yeah, I'm also annoyed by the number of premium ships that are only sold for a limited time. I'm 100% okay if the new premium ships are only available to purchase through the online store, but for them to be sold for a short time and never seen with a price tag again for numerous months after other, newer premium ships make their appearance is just crap.

Doesn't mean the likes of Scharnhorst, Arizona, Dunkerque or Indianapolis will receive similar treatment. Gosh, they're really coming up with alot of iconic premium ships.

+1 - totally agree.  This would provide people who may be on the fence about certain ships to mull it over and maybe make the purchase instead of passing them up.  By extending the premium ship sales, they may actually generate more revenue from the people who have their highest expenses hit at certain times of the month which means they have more funds available later......

Your overall point is valid, but at tier 7, you should still be making money. I'm pretty close to break even on Gneis even running premium consumables, and I'm only an average player at best.

Yeah. It just sucks knowing that a ship you want will most likely be gone mere hours before you can actually grab it.

I don't have a problem with the limited time premium ship sales. First of all, it makes those ships "collectors items."  Second, WG does need to generate enough revenue to maintain this F2P game. Limited time sales probably are one of the oldest marketing gimmicks, right behind free beer and loose women. 

 

Do I wish I'd been on the ball and bought the Anshan when it was offered?  Sure!  Do I lust after an Gremyachy? Heck yeah!  And am I happy that the Warspite came back?  I love that ship. 

 

So I understand the OP's point. It's just that WG really does need to make money out of this somehow.

I'd suggest at the very least pitching such sales end-month when most people have checks like the Dunkurke is now as opposed to the mid-month periods when most people have already been cleaned out by bills and such, like the Scharnhorst is now.

I think you need both.  The premium ships which you can collect at any time, and the rare ones available for a limited time.  I'd hate to say this, but the hype was there for several weeks before it even went on sale (that's when I set aside my money for not only the Scharnhorst, but also Dunkerque).
