When firing a salvo is like rolling a dice. Cruiser, broadside, 4 km away>>>>that's "delete" or "almost delete"....yeah well....not with Gneisenau....with this epic POS everything is possible....you may completely over-penetrate, you may completely straddle the lucky target, you may do some insignificant damage like 3660, or my favorite 2110!

I may as well start playing poker coz I really don't see the difference between Gneisenau and a damn slot machine...

 Considering that ship has the highest average damage at tier 7, i'm going to say user error.

Sounds like you were getting a lot of overpens.

 

I'd say back up, but does that even matter in this game?

 

Does being closer to a target increase chances of overpens?  If muzzle velocity is consistent for the entire gun range, I wouldn't think it would matter.  :hmm:

It may have the highest AVERAGE, i don't disagree.However, I am talking about CONSISTENCY. It's completly unpredictable.

Take a break.  A bad day is a bad day.  Do something you can enjoy - like some low tier blasting in co-op.

Let's face it, you got to the Gneiseau the hard way.  You know how to shoot stuff.

You also know by now that there will be bad days.  This is a bad day.  That ship is high tier so taking it into Co-op will cost you.

Just let it sit.  It'll be there tomorrow when your luck might be good enough to detonate an Iowa on your first salvo.

I didn't get it the "hard way". I free XP it. 

The dispersion pattern is worse than on NC before the sigma upgrade. It goes from pin-point accurate to a choke-less shotgun spread.

This isn't true.

 

The OP has fought in over 5000 battles.  You're thinking of someone who doesn't understand game mechanics.  This is clearly not the case here.

The only downside to the ship is the number of guns. the Gneisenau has the trollish armour of the Scharnhorst with Warspite calibre guns that can effectively damage anything.

 

I don't have the ship, but from my experience facing off against them it plays like a tier 7 North Carolina. Point front at enemy, hit the gas, angle slightly, and giggle intently when the poor guy realizes you also have torps.

The ship is better than most think it is. It's a good all around ship, AA is very good for it's tier, takes a pretty good beating and can dish it out even with only 6 guns

I am currently at the Gneisenau and it is my favorite of the line so far with the Konig a close second. No issues at all dealing damage with it. I was one of the ones doubting it's ability when we were told it was not going to have the 11" guns the Scharn has but I have been converted and truely love this ship and it will be my keeper T7 for sure.

 

So OP I highly recommend you practice with it and also watch any vids of it in action as the issue is not with the ship but with how you are playing it.

having a citadel is almost impossible to hit inside of 15km is a big bonus to survivability.

I'm still curious about this.  Common sense says yes, but limitations of game design make me think it very well may not matter.

 

Does anyone have any infos? :amazed:

OP if your at 4km of a cruiser and your guns dont delete him then why on earth are you not torp deleting?

I just looked at your ship stats and you have a better main gun hit ratio in it than most of your other bbs. 34% in the gneisenau, 24% in the NM, 28 in the yamato, 23 in the fuso
