Augh.  Haven't even bought Scharnhorst because August.  Just had my oldest start college, the other two are starting back to school and need stuff, hockey season starting up, dance classes ... I'm literally scraping cash together to limp to the end of the month.  And now Dunkerque, one of perhaps 4 of my 'must-have's.  WG, why joo h8 me?

Funny thing... those Dunker ques are everywhere but they are proving a challenge to torpedo, for me at least. The players seem to be decent at avoiding straight lines. I know though, because everyone tells me so, eventually it'll all fall into a bell curve and i'll bag a couple for the trophy room.

From what I have played in it, the thing is a monster. Only 3 game sample so far, but I am averaging almost 100k a game with 48% shot accuracy. I have gotten 2 confederates, 2 first bloods, 1 high caliber, and a couple of others in it. Avoided a Texas trying to ram me and chewed him up with the secondaries. I am really, really enjoying this ship.

Considering the reviews, why would you want it?

Personal reasons.  I'd buy it if it were made of actual paper-mache and fired rounds made of crepes and sausages.  You know, like Omaha... :D

Dunkerque can wait until payday, I guess, but Scharnhorst goes off before the 1st. :(  Oh well, I can be patient.  It'll get sold again eventually.  I just wanted to whine a little.  You know, to blend into the forums better. :D

try entering some contests or twitch stream giveaways, who knows, you might win.

I do try those but my luck with contests is abysmal.

I've only run it once (and was fully aware of the reviews when i bought her) and that in coop (and yes I struggle to get my win rate and damage up to average) but what Bootcamp indicates feels quite true. Tightly packed shots, reasonable mauverability, and scores up. Perhaps the reviews suggested to WG that they had to make a change. Fun, but still paper armored. Stay angled for sure.

I'm hoping to get her, might miss out on this ship though.  Stupid work and bills...  If it wasn't for my horrible habit of eating or that gnawing conundrum of keeping a roof over my head I'd have ALL THE SHIPS lol

im impressed.  i suggested this ship in closed beta and they actually placed it in the game!  i wont buy it because paying for these ships is a rip-off, but im still impressed that they implemented it.  Now all they have to do is put in the HMCS Ontario!!

You suggested Dunkerque over Richelieu or Jean Bart?  Those ships have similar turret configuration but with 380mm(15") guns, 152mm secondaries and serious armor.  I believe either of them would have been a far more suitable first appearance for French ships.

It's actually quite good if you play it as a battlecruiser. Not amazing dmg, my avg dmg is probably 50k or so, but at times you can pull out a 100k game. Fast turrets, great speed and maneuverable at speed. Ok armor if highly angled, shot spread is good, good secondaries from the rear, but terrible AA. That about sums it up and it's training a captain for the french line. I like it.

I think your wallet needs a transfusion. *hands check*

Don't feel so bad, I'm not allowed as a student in an Asian country with conservative values to buy any gaming stuff.

When you are fast and maneuverable, you have less tendency to go in a straight line...

Add in the fact that no matter which way you turn, unless it's a complete 180, your guns are on target.  Most BB's will keep a straight line because of the turret traverse and the downtime while they line back up, don't have to worry about that as much with the Dunkerque.

I don't even run vigilance on my Dunker. I use Superintendant to buff the repair ability because more often than not she is downed by guns not torps, torps are easy to deal with for me now.
