I have searched up the Hakuryu and nothing ever comes up, I have been to a website about blueprints and designs by japan and there are ships that never existed on that site but there was no Hakuryu on the site. Where does WG get this info on the Hakuryu? If there is anyone from wargamig who sees this i want to know where they get the info on ships like Hakuryu and tanks like T110E3. (E4 never had turret)

Search up Japanese never were ships and you will find this great site.

This is the issue I have with the fictitious ships that use the nation's ship-naming convention: there's no mention of the design project's name anywhere. Hakuryu is a design study for an improved Taiho under the project designation G15 (it may also be written as G-15). You can also find it being informally referred to as Taiho Kai.

As Wahoo implied, ship designs usually don't have an official name, therefore WG adds one.

example: The Tier 10 German BB is H41, all Wg did was give it a name.

So the reason why you can't find it because it is a made up name base on blueprints.

It would have been better to just stick with the factual designations "Taiho Kai" or "H41", etc... . Silly fake names...

These two examples really are okay...but WG seems to think that all ships need a name...unique name for the "lead" ship, that is. Ships are rarely mass-produced compared to Tanks and Planes.

Fake or not, this is, at the end of the day an arcade simulation game, not a historical reference.  WG has done an excellent job at maintaining a high degree of historical fact on which to base most of the ships and keeping with national naming conventions is part of that.  Wile you might be able to get away with naming a tank something like 'project 140', the sheer cost of building a major surface ship usually entailed giving it an actual name to go along with the investment.

Actually, the Tier 9 and Tier 10 German BBs are named after Battleships that fought at Jutland in WWI. Would the National Socialists have given them the same names?  Doubtful. But at least they re-used names, much like the USN has done.

Are you questioning the power of paper tovarisch?

Thats capitalist talk! We all know IJN won the war in the Pacific!

Now go do 15 bows to a statue of Yamato or you get sent to Japanese gulag.

Quite so, as ships usually follow a naming convention. Take the US: Battleships are named after States, Cruisers cities, Carriers after battles. It's not unreasonable to assume Japan followed a similar convention.
