I really can't decide whether or not I like this thing. It's really REALLY weird. It's performance is completely sporadic and unpredictable in every way... from the armor to the guns. One game I'll be getting penned by cruisers at max range and straddling my shots on another battleship a mere 2km away... another game I'll be getting this-

If this is what the whole line is gonna be like... idk whether I want to continue because I've never seen performance this well in any ship I've captained before or stop because the rest of the time I may as well not even load the game because it's going to be me watching everyone from a 3rd perspective 2 minutes in anyways...

I love how the targeting systems for the line seem to just break at times and you'll have perfectly clumped shots with no dispersion that fall WAY short of where you were aiming or go WAY over where you were aiming. The armor indeed seems to be sporadic as you describe.

Good thing the engines aren't sporadic ("feature" next update?).

My experience with her was get in and brawl and let secondaries do all the work because you can miss a full broadside at 2km >.<

Wait till you get the Gneisenau, this is the most fun I've had in WoWS in a long long time.

Get in close and let the secondary battery go to town. For a Tier 3 BB, this thing has the secondary battery from hell - I've done 30K damage from the secondarys alone, and that's NOT including fire damage. Cruisers and DD's literally melt once inside 4 km. The armor scheme also seems to do a better job of tanking at close range than at arm's length. This isn't a brawler, it's an in-your-face knife fighter.

Ground through most of the Nassau with rather poor results.

..

I kept the Nassau to give it another chance, but I free XP'd to the Konig for Team Battles.

It looked like the Kaiser was just another Nassau.

I got tired of the slow play-style and predictable appearance of Destroyers when it was 'brawling time'.

I love my Nassau, but then I love my South Carolina as well, and because of its secodaries my Mikasa... (In co-op, where at least the bots will come close enough to shoot...)

Driving a Nassau is like the best of both worlds for me, an eight-gun shot to one side, with the added bonus of a four-gun shot to the other, and a tonne of secondaries blazing away at anyone who gets close... Especially annoying DDs...

Argh, the Nassau can be so frustrating. My first Nassau battle was absolutely glorious, with lots of close action and secondary fireworks 30k damage and tons of XP.  The next three battles I get spawned in awful positions and never really contribute anything...at all.  First I got spawned on the end of the line which the enemy rushed en masse and focus-fired by 7 ships so I can't even get in secondary range, the next battle I spawn on Destroyer Alley and get boxed out of the battle by the immediate coordinated attentions of the enemy carrier and a pair of destroyers (well played), then I get uptiered on that stupid split-spawn map where my guns can't get in range until I'm below half health plus again receiving most of the attention of the enemy torpedo bombers.  Less than 10k damage in each of the last 3 battles, and worst of all only 3 secondary hits - an absolute waste of time.  Now I can't play for another 8 hours so I get to boil about this string of horrors until then.

My experiences were mixed as well.  One minute the guns were great, the next they couldn't hit a thing.  Same with the armor - very *ahem* hit-or-miss.

I'll probably go back and buy it again but I sold it to finance the Kaiser, which I will sell to finance the Konig, etc.

The ship itself is pretty good. However the guns are unpredictable. Your shots will be clump so close together then spread out that your shots land all around your target. The guns perform well only in close range which the ship and the guns are made to do.

OK, I had one more potato battle tonight and then I got a better one...I feel better now and will finally be able to get some sleep.  :medal:  (I usually suck at playing battleships, so this is a pretty good battleship result for me)

Dunno about anyone else but most of my games in it saw tons of other Nassaus which are build like brick shithouses and were basically impossible to citadel.  With the team comps being so wonky it was hard to get a proper idea of how she'd handle against normal ships.  That said she could take crazy punishment and rack up tons of damage and even with an army of floating fortresses on the other team i did decently in the damage department.  Wins were another thing though...

From what I can tell Nassau's armor feels weird for a few reasons. First, she can not bow tank. Her nose armor, if present at all, isn't enough to bounce shells reliably. That causes the shells to stop at the transverse bulkhead guarding the citadel, which leads to a lot of 33% pens that people are not accustomed to feeling when they go nose on in a BB. Next is that she has an exterior belt for her citadel, instead of a slopped internal belt. That means you'll see fewer 33% pens and more bounces or shatters, but what does pen has the potential to go straight for the citadels depending on where you get hit.

This is all dead reckoning on my part, just from playing with her not from picking into the armor models. Seems best to show some side and encourage shots into your belt midships while well angled.

Low tier LOL teams.  "Let's all rush cap A!  Charge!  Oh crap, enemies with guns!  Retreat to the bottom right corner!"

I didn't have confidence in the main guns so I tried firing all-HE but wasn't getting enough damage on anything besides destroyers, so I switched to AP which worked well enough if I could get in close to enemies.  It's funny how half of the salvoes seem very tightly grouped while the other half diverge rapidly.  Selective memory, I suppose.
