This team has located a wreck near Wake Island and believe it to be either the Kamikaze class destroyer, Hayate, or one of the smaller IJN patrol boats, possibly patrol boat No. 32 or 33. This is pretty interesting to watch and just thought some people here would be interested in watching too.

EDIT: The ship found was the Japanese merchant ship Amakasu Maru. The team is planning to head to another site to search for another ship wreck. Possibly one of the IJN destroyers sunk in the area.

Sorry about that :P. Though it's possible it could still be a No.31 class patrol boat or another small destroyer.

I'm not sure but I think that might've been the place the ship was built and not the name.

Well looks like it wasn't a destroyer or patrol craft at all but the Amakasu Maru.

Interesting. I'll have to watch the whole thing later.

I think they plan on diving to another site today aswell, hopefully that will be one of the destroyers or patrol craft sunk near Wake Island. Would be interesting to see one of those up close..

Very interesting, I hope they find something unique, and catch it on Camera.

Indeed, I hope to see that as well, I've always wondered like those ships looked like up close, especially after decades of being underwater.

OP, the Hayate was a Kamikaze-class destroyer, FYI.

Ah, thank you for that. Sorry, I don't know early IJN DD's that well :P

Kirasagi, Mutsuki-class DD.

Note: Hayate broke in two as she sunk.

It is possible that we may also find one of the No.31 class patrol baots

Hoping to see any of these ships. Would be really cool to see some of these up close, however there's always the chance that we might not even find a shipwreck. As the team said earlier, the sonar picks up rocks and boulders aswell.

Well it won't be Patrol boat No. 33 as this is her fate:

Edit: both No. 32 & 33 ran aground, and were subsequently scuttled.

Update: The submersible is now 150 meters away from their next target site. We should be seeing something on screen soon.
