Yay! Scharnhorst is no longer [REDACTED] so I could safely say... expect release within a week (prediction with Arizona NDA lifted and time of release).

Here's a video of Flamu wrecking in Scharnhorst:

Please, ANALYZE THE GAMEPLAY AND TRULY DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON THIS T7 KM BB!

(I've decided I will ;D)

Technically it hasn't been lifted :D

Its just people who are reviewers can now release their videos

Like I still can't tell you that she has {REDACTED}, or her reload is {REDACTED} but at least she is great at {REDACTED}

Basically telling us anything that other ST's already know.

Idk why the NDA lift is just on reviewers.. kind of pointless to keep other ST's silent when I can just click a couple times and get all information on Scharnhorst ;p

Her main battery reload is 20 seconds.

I can only confirm that her main battery may be able to reload. It's also been known to explosively disintegrate when the oven is left in the "on" position

Our posting could be influenced by different iterations. If we don't own the ship and then post about it, clearly our post is influenced by a past iteration of it and therefore covered by the NDA we signed. Reviewers have a different NDA.

If you mean Lert, he's a special case.

Lert and I both work independently when writing the reviews.  I won't even look at what he's working on until I've finished my portion of the write up.  This ensures that I'm not accidentally cross-contaminating my review with anything he's written.  Once I've done writing my piece, I then take Lert's submission and proof it, going over any statistics he mentions in his write up and making sure they match with what the ship's stats say in the client.  There's normally no issues here, but out of respect and knowledge of what occurs with Supertesting (as an ex-Supertester myself), it provides a second insulating layer to make sure nothing accidentally slips through.

I then create the Lertboxes and fill it with his write ups and format it to look pretty.  I then go back into my own post and edit that to help it flow around the Lertboxes.  This final collation doesn't occur until the NDA has been lifted.  This is why you'll usually see my posts half an hour to several hours behind Youtube videos.

If I understand correctly, the NDA prevents supertesters from disclosing exactly what changes a ship went through during testing, regardless of how long it's been since it was released.  If so, I wonder what the logic behind that policy is.  Being allowed to discuss the changes and the reasoning behind them might provide some valuable insight into the balancing process.

But People have been saying NDA is still in for Supertesters..?  I'm just confused i guess as some supertesters still wont talk about the ship, yet others have a review on it.

Silly NDA's are to confusing it seems haha.

Why is it every video I seen so far is always this ship in a tier 5 battle... IF you are going to do a review you should also include the highest tier.

Anyone can make a ship look and sound good when it's the top tier. It's another story when it's on the bottom.

Lert has express permission from WG and is a unique case. There are no other supertesters that write reviews.

At highest tier, you just play like a super cruiser, dodge and weave and sling HE like your life depends on it. AP when things are broadside obviously :P

I can fill you in on this one.  Imagine the posts on the forums if:

  • An American ship started out super powerful, then for balancing reasons, got nerfed repeatedly.
  • A Russian ship started out super powerful, then for balancing reasons, got nerfed repeatedly.

Same process, right?  I can guarantee you that you would see cries of Russian bias in both those cases.  Cause we have.  For each.

But People have been saying NDA is still in for Supertesters..?  I'm just confused i guess as some supertesters still wont talk about the ship, yet others have a review on it.

You would not believe the number of hoops Lert and I are jumping through to bring you those articles.  The Supertest Coordinators and the WGNA employees overseeing the Supertesting program have been nothing if not amazing in assisting us in providing these reviews.  They trust us and we're working hard to continue to be deserving of said trust.

The NDA is quite clear.  Don't talk about anything that occurred during Supertesting unless you are told otherwise.  Lert has been told otherwise.  The others have not.  If they do not give him permission, he doesn't chime in on a Lertbox.

People like the Lert box so he gets special permission. The rest of us can only talk about the ship if we own it and can only talk about the current state of the ship, not what it might or might not have been.

We're really not trying to be jerks and hold out from you guys.

OK, see how the videos are out? Lets make a fake ship and name it Shippy.

The Reviewers release the reviews and its standard battleship. 30 second reload, 38 second turret traverse, 60k health and T6. Thats the version you know.

But during supertesting, it had 25 second reloads, 45 second turret traverse with 70k health at T7. <~~~ all that? Cant talk about.

Well what about the video reviews? Still subject to change and any knowledge we would share would still be the knowledge gained while it was in Supertesting. Cant talk about that.

The ship is released but I have yet to purchase it and play it? Again using knowledge gained while it was under NDA as part of the supertest. Cant talk about that. EVen if she has not changed in any way shape or form.

Hell, even saying something like "she used to be called Shippo before it was renamed Shippy" will get me a giant red X on my account :D

I'd like to also add this: These ships need to be hyped (WG is a business afterall) and making a small dedicated group of popular players is the best choice. These guys are the ones that are called upon to do it. Its pointless to hype a ship AFTER its release.

I was a Supertester.  But see all of the issues we've stated about getting special permission for a Supertester to write a review?  I have been writing reviews for World of Warships since Open Beta.  I had reviewed a bunch of ships already before becoming a Supertester, including (but not limited to) the Warspite, Atlanta, Atago, and Tirpitz.  It was what I enjoyed doing.  I kept on doing it, including reviews on ships like the Imperator Nikolai I, Blyskawica, Anshan and Mikhail Kutuzov.  But I recognize that there could be a perceived conflict of interest, even though my reviews were largely published post-release.

Some players would perceive that I was pulling my information from the testing period because I had a Supertester tag.  Even if I was exceedingly careful and only ever spoke about live stats and never made a mistake, player perceptions could taint the reputation of the Supertest program.  I wasn't comfortable with that.  I brought up my concerns to NyxWGA and with her blessing, I bowed out of the Supertest program on good terms and continued writing reviews.  I miss Supertesting.  It was nice to really get my hands dirty with some of the updates and testing but it's much easier like this where what I see is filtered through what's soon-to-be-available.

That is quite unfortunate, but thank you for all the effort. Even more so that you would leave Supertest, that just shows dedication.
