Its a beautiful Warship, I can't wait to get her eventually when the tree is released to the live server, she seems like a excellent Mid tier Ship, and is likely very fun to play as well judging by LWM's review.

She was out of control from what I heard. Totally OP. From watching ichase's video, and think they did fine...

The ship was overpowered, and Wargaming, seeing that issue, Wargaming decided to fix the issue, and put her back into the right place in her tier.

I will not be buying it.......it is so badly nerfed. I watched Jingles video where a New Orleans was bouncing shots at close range.

Agreed, one Type 59 in wargaming's stable is enough!

Yup, they definitely nerfed the ship alright....

Penetration the 28.3cm guns is slightly lacking when compared to technical test charts.
WG might be using incorrect values. And didn't take into account the 20 degree pre-angle of armor the gun was being tested against.

10,936 yards (10,000 m) 13.70" (348 mm)
16,404 yards (15,000 m) 11.02" (280 mm)
21,872 yards (20,000 m) 8.86" (225 mm)
27,340 yards (25,000 m) 7.64" (194 mm)

(The above information is from "German Capital Ships of World War Two." The data is based upon the pre-war Krupp test shoots on their range in Meppen with L/4,4 APC projectiles using RPC/32 propellant against KC-type armor at an impact angle of 70 degrees. It should be noted that RPC/32 propellant was replaced by the more powerful RPC/38 type which was the only propellant used in World War II.)

So based on simply calculating the 20 degree test armor angling to zero degrees the buff would be:
363mm to 370mm at 10KM
289mm to 298mm at 15KM
238mm? to 242mm at at 20KM (Marginal)

Not even taking into account any other physics involved in shells penetration.

Fix should be simple(I don't care how though):
A: Mostly by improving the "Projectile Krupp" value a bit. (Quality of AP shell, I believe. I don't know the value.)
B: Reducing the drag constant a slight bit. Seems already really low @ .2827 but still workable. Maybe it could be .2810?

So in conclusion, the velocity of the 28.3cm guns is accurate but the penetration is subpar.. There is some room for an AP buff on Scharnhorst without the ship being OP. Even 1 millimeter could mean the difference between getting penetration damage or a citadel. (Source: Navweaps)

One can definitely see some nerfing going on.

This is based on official WoWs video.

This is the Navweaps tables.  Note the numbers correspond closer to the right but the explanation on the bottom says, they were not using the weaker propellant during the war.  So the numbers on the left should be correct.
