440 [BLKHS] 11thACRColdsteel Beta Testers 1,612 posts 8,174 battles Report post #1 Posted August 8, 2016 Nothing angers normal day-to-day players more than the idea cheaters can get away with it in battle and not be held accountable. A recent article on TheArmoredPatrol website, pasted below, talked about a number of players on the RU server being banned for cheating. I hope this is accurate. I encourage WOWS to keep this up, and to continue publicizing the bans. It would be even better to have a list published with the handles of all the banned players on each forum. But this makes all of us more secure that the game we are spending cash on is fair and an even playing field for all. Good Job WG! WoWS Q&A – 6th August 2016 2016-08-06 ~ SEBASTIANUL ~ 5 COMMENTS Thanks to Babykim (EU) On the proliferation of aimbot on the RU server (food for thought) As you may know, Lesta constantly fights the use of aimbot on the Russian cluster. They fortified the client against unwanted modifications, used server statistics to find the cheaters, etc. They had “public prosecution” by coloring cheaters nicknames in brown, and, of course, bans. Vallter_ has mentioned that 508 users on the RU server have received a permanent ban for cheating. The Russian community demands the names to be revealed, which Lesta is reluctant to do. One user sent Vallter_ the list of top 1000 players according to the ProShips ranking, a kind of XVM, asking to reveal how many top players have been banned. According to Vallter_, of the top 1000 players 39 have been permanently banned, or nearly 4 percent.

I do not think names should be made public. Besides, I am not sure they cannot come back in with a different name and email addy, though they will start with T1 again, and they will be caught again. I'm all for catching and getting rid of them.

It would be interesting to see where that 4% fell in the spectrum of the top 1000 players. It the cheat program gets you a 54%WR or a 66%WR. We've often speculated on here that aim assist is more of a crutch than a tool. I know when we briefly had the built-in assist that I often found it useless. It was only really good for long shots where the enemy didn't change course (opening shots using spotter plane). Otherwise, my own training was more accurate. I'm all for catching and getting rid of them. Some may support the "catch and release" method for cheaters. I support "catch and euthanize" of cheaters. Ban by software ID's where the offenders not just have to open new email addy/nickname but they have to re-download the whole game again after prolifically purging their registry. A few hours of PC systems cleaning followed by hour or more of total download game should prevent many multiple offenders. After all, if they are so lazy and desperate to avoid actually learning how to be a top player, then how long are they gonna endure system cleanups/downloads? Because....this follows on the heels of announcement banning some NA players not too long ago. It shows their effort is ongoing and on all servers.....which is a good thing, and this is an indicator it's not just a one off. Otherwise cheaters could migrate to a server where cheaters are not banned.

The 4% just represents the amount of players that were CAUGHT and then were banned. It doesn't indicate how many were caught and not banned, nor how many of those players out of the 1000 were analyzed for cheating. But this does show significant movement on WG's part to deter cheating, which I applaud heartily.

Cause if they have to cheat to get somewhere where many do it by either hard work or raw skill, it just merely shows how pathetic those people really are. And if WG is doing something, kudos to them. And before you say I cheat, no I don't.
