I think the Smith might be able to torp itself.

Only reason I can think of that caused this.

It didn't do any damage to its ally ships as far as I can tell.

Its blowing up in the background of that screenshot behind the Derzki and the only damage caused to that Derzki was done by me which is the only ally it could've hit.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Quite likely the Smith was already pink (not visible when on enemy team), and his torp (not detected) had hit the Derzki and he was already over threshold so the damage got reflected back to the Smith. Hence, -1 because he killed himself via reflected damage.

But there is only 592 damage to the Derzki that my salvo didn't cause.

Unless pink torps no longer inflict ally damage?

If you turn pink and pass a certain damage total threshold, then all damage you do to allies over any games while pink will be reflected back to you.

I think so, once damage gets reflected. I'm not 100% sure since I rarely get the chance to see damage reflection.

There are as I understand it two stages of 'pink', visually indistinct from eachother.

1st stage: Ok, you did a bit too much teamdamage. This is a warning. Stop doing it. (your weapons will still harm allies, that damage is not reflected back on you)

2nd stage: You didn't stop doing teamdamage. Seriously, knock it off. You're this close to getting banned. (your weapons will no longer hurt allies, all their damage reflects back to you)

Right but none of their ships when they were first detected had any damage.

Its not like the Smith really is capable of pumping allies full of torps anyways.

He wasn't pink before the match so I can't see how he did enough damage to have it start being reflected back into him.

You can't see pink enemies. If they're pink, they're only pink to their team mates.

Ignoring it may be being pink she cannot torp herself. 30 knots with boost on maybe 31 with a speed flag(don't have many so not testing it meself) and her torp is 57 or 58 knots. So she would have to be something like 65 or 70 knots top end to torp herself. Don't forget she has to make a turn to hit the torp as well which means she'd lose a large chunk of her speed doing it.
