Dont understand the marketing

Of course WG marketing would probably have access to data that the public dont, but I dont understand the deal/bundles/specials for this anniversary.

 

My wallet is sitting here wide open flapping in the breeze just begging for some content to suit how the game is for me.  I've spent some $$$ on the 10 ports slots but that's it.

 

I'm a pretty casual player, I rarely buy premium time and I love buying nice ships but wouldnt call myself a hardcore collector, so with that in mind I'll explain why to me this anniversary sale is really bleh .

 

"The Smith".  Okay it's a premium, but it's a tier I never play so even though it's 6 bucks, for me it would be a waste of 6 bucks.

25% discount on 360 days premium.  NOW we are talking!!!  But wait!!!  I love this game, but am I really going to get the most out of that amount of premium time?  I (and probably a lot of the casual player base) balked at a years sub, but WG would get my money in an instant if there was a sale on 3 months premium.  It makes more sense to me that there are more casual than hardcore players so why not try get them onboard with a more reasonable premium discount time.

 

There are other deals in this sale?  If so I didnt notice them or forgot about them and as I said I got the 10 port slots as I though well, may as well get something.  But the sale in this region is just capital Meh.

 

TLDR?  Sale sucks gimme what ---> I <--- want /entitlement.

     I think the lack of premiums right now is due to a couple which will go on sale early next week. I heard a rumor from an old sea salt that two German BBs would be available on 08 August. [This rumor was incorrect. No such ships became available. Please pardon my repetition of this misinformation.]

 

     I'm a collector, meself, and did pick up the Smith, which I'm happy to have. Its usefulness, however, is at the lower end of the scale. I played it once.

There is also a discount currently on free exp conversion. 35 exp per 1 doubloon. Compared to the normal rate of 25 to 1, it's about a 30% discount, so you also have the option to buy some doubloons and convert exp to free exp.

I think that they could sell a lot of product if they'd discount premium time, and I don't mean in 1 year blocks. Discounts on 1 or 3 months would probably sell like hotcakes.

 

I typically only purchase it if I think I'm getting a "deal", and those seem to come up only rarely. 

 

I'm of the opinion that there are no "bangs for the buck" that equal having premium, but the incentive happens on the weekends....

 

We're in an age of bargain hunting internet users..... I wish they'd cater to that instinct and demographic more aggressively.

They should also sell the signal flag packages like they do in Europe on a permanent bases !!!!!

Last time they tried it people were complaining about P2W. I suspect they are trying to avoid another controversy.

 

Now, don't get me wrong, I think WG marketing could be much better and the "specials" we're getting this weekend aren't all that special. I would love to see some better deals.

I didn't think WGNA even had a marketing team for WoWs. i always assumed it was handed off to a new intern with a list of things to not do...

 

For real though, the NA server gets so restricted in what they can do it's pathetic. WG restricts the number of promotions allowed for each server. Only a certain number of certain sales are allowed for each server with different servers getting different amounts or types. NA gets the least amount of each type and seems to be out right forbidden from some promotions. Add in that most promotions, like weekends and region specific holidays ,are left to the server staff to decide; we sometimes get the hoarder effect(go with it) where they are saving the larger promotions for Q4 and other larger NA holidays. of course what do i know. i'm going off memory of discussions with WoWs staff from who knows how far back

I understand your frustration. They said that there would be bundles galore. Only selling 2 premium ships is not a bundles galore.

 

However, right now is the best time to buy premium ships and play this game. Not too long ago people were begging for the Warspite and the Tirpitz to be sold again. Not too long ago there was only 3-4 premium ships in the shop AT ALL. Lately, they have sold more premium ships in this game than at any other time since it came out. Not only that, but almost all of those premium ships are great ships to buy. There are so many now that I am going broke getting them all and I still don't have all the ones that I want.

 

I love these premium ships, they are the most fun ships for me to play in this game. Not like WOT where you dread having to jump into your weak premium just to make some cash or retrain a crew for another tank and it is very painful to play a premium tank that you spent money for. In this game playing a premium ship is most often pure joy and that is how a game is supposed to be. So while you complain about not enough sales, right now is better than any other time to get premium ships.

I've converted over 40k of XP and bought subscription for a year.

Normally I get premium either for week-ends or a week if I'm on vacation, but 360 days is already discounted over these and WG did throw in a 25% rebate on top of it, too good to pass up.

 

Of course I was more interested in the 2 new German premiums, but they're taking too long to get released.

Yeah, "....and that's just the tip of the iceberg" they said. Little underwhelmed by the sales. I did pick up the Smith: Fully Loaded and the x10 port slots- those were good deals, but I was hoping their "Bundles Galore" would have given us more premium choices. I'm really waiting for the Saipan to come back.
