25 anonym_tQcfiLCaHU54 Members 173 posts Report post #1 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) Is stealing a kill that important to some people that it's worth running between a teammate and enemy that are so close together you take shots from both? Hope the kill was worth it since the damage you took gave the enemy team points for your death right after the Molotov died. Edit: Are there really so few people that read threads before posting anymore? If you're just going to reply to the title don't bother. Kill stealing is a pain, especially because players don't understand that dealing damage is where it is at. But, yeah, thanks for the post?

And as bootcamp pointed out, damage done is much more important than kills. The problem is that there are always going to be a bunch of noobs who think that kills matter, etc., etc., etc.
2,556 [GWG] AVR_Project Members 8,019 posts 15,964 battles Report post #6 Posted August 6, 2016 There is no way someone will know if theirs is the last shot in. Whenever a group focuses on one ship, it's a toss-up to see who gets the 'kill' flag. As it was said earlier, it's about the damage. I've been at the top of winning teams with ZERO kills. That usually happens when I'm in a CV. After a good manual torpedo drop, a battleship is knocked down from 50K to 3 digit health. It's up to the friendlies to wipe it out before it heals. I really don't mind. Since I choose to drop on full health ships, rather than waste all the extra ordnance on 'almost-dead' ships being fired on by friendlies, things go better. 25 anonym_tQcfiLCaHU54 Members 173 posts Report post #7 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) I guess the reason it bothered me is because last night I screwed up and ended up with a TK and now I'm doing team damage because of an idiot running up along side while I'm firing so he can get the kill. And the fact that after loving the last ship the Gnevny has been hell so anything that mess up a game in it piss me off. 125 Mexicanarmada15 Members 712 posts 5,239 battles Report post #11 Posted August 6, 2016 There is nothing more annoying that shooting a ship down to a sliver and no one shoots at it. Worse is when you are in a bb. 20+ reload is not worth the 1k damage needed. Or when you are in a dd and a low health cleveland is coming for you. I am pretty much there yelling at the screen....Shoot her...... Shoot her!!!!!!! Take the Shot!!!!! Lol. I would rather live to do more than argue over one kill.

After fighting a Molotov at close range in a Gnevny there wasn't much of the ship left to go find another target. Even in a situation where you have to run between 2 ships and take team damage to get the kill? I know this situation is highly unlikely to happen again, it was just how stupid the guy acted to make sure he got the kill that got me to post this. Most of the time I don't consider kill stealing to be a thing, maybe that was a bad choice of titles for the thread, but this was just so crazy I had to ask if people still consider kills to be that important. Seriously, if I've just hit a cruiser for massive damage and left him a total wreck with under 1-2k HP, I'm perfectly happy to see a team mate finish him off quickly so I don't feel obliged to finish him off. This is particularly true when the CA in question has torps and may be in range to use them against me. "Kill stealing", more appropriately known as focus fire, is a damned GOOD thing!!! It's also called TEAMWORK!!!

If your shot doesn't finish the job, then don't blame me if my shot does. I've been in several shut-out games, and the common theme is that the team with a full roster is filled with ships at exceptionally low health.
18 Lovebugjunkie Members 115 posts 11,611 battles Report post #22 Posted August 7, 2016 I would not be happy if I worked at knocking a ship down to nothing and someone in range did not take a "shot" because they though I deserved it. Kill the sob as quick as you can by any means. I have had people take the sinking shot of a ship that I had been pounding in my Atlanta, I was glad they sunk it no matter if my next round was 1 inches from the ship and would have sunk it.

Usually when I get a target whittled down enough, I announce to target it and finish it off and start working on a bigger threat, letting the vultures get the remaining HPs and cheesy kill where I walk off with mucho XPs. 1 Rikiri_Kardo Beta Testers 43 posts 1,354 battles Report post #25 Posted August 7, 2016 Maybe the guy pulled an idiot move when he cut in front of you, but I don't believe there is such a thing as kill stealing. The object is to kill the enemy team and a ship that's sunk won't be doing any more damage to your team. I've been able to sink a couple of ships in games where I had just a tiny bit of health left. Any ship left afloat is still a danger.
