The mold for the hull seems a tad off and will probably require some putty work. The hull halves fit together just fine, but how they wanted the deck to mate to the hull required me to shave some plastic off and now I'll need to pack some putty into the cracks. Ah well, first above 1/700 scale model for moo

I just looked and there are quite a few of those kits for sale on Ebay. If it wasn't for the odd-ball scale of it, 1:400, I would buy one too. Heller used to do a lot of ship models in 1:400 scale, but for some reason that scale never caught on like 1:350 did.

Lucky....my local hobby shop closed down earlier this year... closest one to me is over an hour away... I miss walking around the store looking at all the cool models I wanted to buy...

Taking a break, I put my 1:700 Fletcher next to this thing for scale comparison.

Does the model have the 8x 100mm option like the ship was upgraded to during her lifetime or the 7x 120mm option like we have in game?

It is the 8x 100mm. All dual guns.

The box appears to contain the parts for the pre-war variant on a D-sprue. It's probably the same mold regardless of which variant you get, just different instructions.

 

 

TODO: Props, anchors, and a helluva lot of rafts. And the paint jerb.
