Sold off Nagato because found I prefer the more easygoing nature of cruisers (and partly because kept facing enemy cruisers that keep dodging my volleys -_-). Another problem I kept running into is timing my broadsides so I tended to expose my side to opposing BBs and get penned hard.

Still, they seem to be effective in competent hands. Wondering if I should return to them. Know their only major weakness is equal or greater tier CVs (because I've sunk them in Hiryu and Shokaku). I'm also not sure if go secondaries build, and definitely not AA because staying with teammates (hopefully) will deter CV sorties for enough of the match.

Nagato/Amagi is one of the best back-to-back ship pairs in the game.  Secondary spec can be effective on Nagato if you get close enough, often enough, but I wouldn't recommend it for Amagi.

I've only kept four non-premium ships that aren't tier 10s.  Two of them are Nagato and Amagi.

Really like both of these ships, the Amagi is one of the ships I have the most games in... but I actually sold mine to buy other ships when I started going up multiple lines. I would buy it again if credits weren't always a shortage for me.

If you like playing a battleship now and then, both the Nagato and the Amagi are two amazing ones to have in port, even if to be honest I do prefer the North Carolina at T8.

Honestly I kind of hated Nagato and Amagi. Like any ship, they can get kills and they can have great games, but I find them both lacking especially with recent USN BB changes.

Nagato annoyed me to no end with the really wide spreads it fires and the consistent overpenning of everything it shoots at. Broadside BB at 8km? Lets overpen! At least a secondary build is pretty funny starting with Nagato.

Amagi feels really good at first once she's upgraded, until you realize she's a battlecruiser in a sea with nimble battleships (This is why I have major doubts about the German BB line too). Her penetration power at range is really weak and requires good aim and rng to work together, then contrary to popular belief, she actually has terrible range compared to even the North Carolina, and with recent dispersion changes, she also has worse dispersion than the North Carolina. She basically plays like a giant Mogami and has a great tendency to actually suffer the same fate as Mogami in game. I also really do not care for her gun layout, but that might just be me. At least Amagi is far more fun than Izumo.

I'll say this at least, the entire line is worth it literally just to get Yamato. Yamato is actually completely fun to play and makes me not regret going through the line (and skipping Izumo).

If you get Amagi I would go AA build. She's known for having fairly weak AA and as a CV I'd totally attack one. However if it's upgraded, it's pretty good. My record for planes shot down was in an Amagi... 51. I would wait to do secondary builds until Izumo.

Weak at range? Amagi and Nagato both have better pen values at range compared to their USN counterparts. While Nagato's spreads aren't nearly as wider as Fusou's or Kongou's.

Both have the same Sigma anyways, and I have Amagi setup with range accuracy and Nagato for secondaries. Both are fun and I do get consistent damage. Perhaps RNG just hated you? (Getting cit's on an NC at range has always been more fun than not XD)
