Favorite tier/class combo for majority of your games?

I am new to this game, but I played over 24k battles in wot.  Over time, I found that my favorite tanks happened to be tier 9 mediums.  Decent firepower to deal with tier 10s, decent mobility to get around, better MM with some occasional tier 7 stomping, and smaller repair bill.

 

Is there such "sweet spot" in wows?

Tier 6 for me. That's where most of the ships are getting good.

It's a matter of personal preference and kind of ad hoc depending on your favorite ship types and even your mood.

 

Some of the generalized sweet spots are as follows:

• Tier 5 CL
• Tier 6 BB / CA
• Tier 7 CA
• Tier 8 BB / DD
• Tier 9 DD
• Tier 10 Yamato, Zao, Khabarovsk

The sweet spot for non-premium income would be tiers 5-7

 

as for fun value, tiers 6 & 7 are probably your best bet, you make decent income and most of the ships are not only fun to play but are powerful too!

My "sweet spot" for fun is tier 2-3 cruisers.  Particularly tier 3 later in the evening when the number of players for matchmaking in tiers 1-2 gets low.  Guns that just keep firing.  Destroyers that just keep exploding.  Battleships that just keep burning.

Tiers 5 & 6 are the best for generating credits IMHO.  The Tier 5 Russian cruiser Murmansk is great - both for generating credits and building up captain's skills.  It's also relatively "newbie friendly". 

 

Personally, I have less fun in Tier 8 and above battles.  I just haven't developed my skills enough.  Also, the meta is more conservative and seems to change significantly between 7 & 8.  Then there are the repair bills - again there seems to be a jump up in Tier 8. 

 

Don't get me wrong - Tiers 8-10 are the most powerful ships and most skilled players.  It just takes a while to get ready.

Tier 5 to 8 premium ships are my sweet spot, doesn't matter what class as long as it is not CV

Tier 9 - Fletcher

Tier 10 - Khabarovsk

 

All fun to play and all make credits, tiers 5 & 8 particularly well

Recently I found out Gearing + Khabarovsk + Any Tier X(Prefer Moskva, Zao, Yamato, DM) is almost a free win combo, especially there are so many "noob" DD players out there and Gearing + Khab can demolish them within 20s.

That's not what the question was about, but now that we're on the subject, I also noticed that Gearing + Khab works really well. Gearing does the spotting (totally unrewarding, but hey, someone's got to do it) while Khab lights things up from a few km away. A tandem like this is really difficult to counter and just goes to show how broken DDs really are. I tried this as a Khab with a friend's Gearing and felt like I needed a shower afterwards.

Tier 6 is my favorite as I'm a battleship captain primarily, and all T6 BBs in game right now are stellar performers. Tier 8 is also very good for battleships, although at that tier, you're already starting to see games where players run and hide behind islands for fear of losing credits. Tier 6 matches on the other hand are quite exciting with a fair amount of brawling.

Sorry I misunderstood the question. 

WG really need to implement spotting reward, Gearing basically just need to spot the DDs and here comes a free win. If there are only DDs and no enemy CA/BB support, Gearing can also start firing. However, I have to say, this kind of Gearing play style is extremely boring and unfair for Gearing players.

a 3 div Khab team is pretty hard to beat too, found that out the hard way..

Probably Tier 5 and 6, though I have been know to break out the St Louis and other lower-tier ship on occasion.

All the ship lines have their characteristics and the games are fun with a decent amount of brawling.

 

Also having your zao captain put into the myoko is fun >.>

My favorite tiers right now are 7-8. Atlanta, Blyskawica, Kiev, and Benson almost always guarantee plenty of lolz for me in a match.
