Hi, a really quick request to you guys

In my Tirpitz I've really struggled to hit the Citadels on enemy Cruisers and BBs. Does anyone have a quick minute to give me the general location of the Citadels on each nations ships? Not each invididual, just in general (IE: US Cruisers have a citadel below the funnel <--- I have no clue if that's true). Thanks!

Center mass, waterline. Under the smoke stacks is a decent rule-of-thumb. Exceptions are very rare.

Just aim for the middle of the ship at the waterline and you are golden.

To quote atsf, "This 50,000 ton floating German wiener is not a sniper. It lacks penetration and is not gonna win fight against ships with bigger sticks at range. It excels at close range, so get up close and personal to people, because unlike happy campers you actually help the team to advance and win games. You push flanks, you blast brain-dead cruisers for half their health, you help destroyers on taking caps or solo cap by yourself whenever possible because crazy capping EXP rate. The Tirpitz is an oversized destroyer. Its main armament are torpedoes, that can do anything. So be unfair, and take down helpless people before they even got a chance to harm you back".

In short, close the distance. Then you'll get citadels and torpedo hits.

The top tier games are flooded with DDs. I get as close as I can, but I try to avoid torps. I'm generally firing at 15KM to start and it moves in as the game progresses. I'm just trying to get lucky at long range more often.

I usually aim about a thumbnails lead on ships and about 1/2 inch near the water line for my citidales. No idea if this will help, but I usually get results from it!

BTW scramjet, could you do me a favor and check out my latest thread? I have a feeling you"ll like!:) link listed below!

Usually you should aim for the waterline and the areas where turrets are. That's a turret's magazine. Not only will it give a chance of detonation, it also may knock out the turret and is usually easier to penetrate it.

Citadel areas are typically waterline, or slightly sub waterline, hits below the smokestacks (engines) and below the turrets (magazines).

Tirpitz isn't great at landing citadels on battleships at long range due to her lighter lower calibre shells, although she has no problems deleting cruisers, assuming RNG favors your dispersion, of course. Tirpitz long range dispersion is ... not great. On the other hand, shots fired at anything within 10km will hurt them badly.

By the way, I'm personally hoping someone can answer this: At what elevation should you aim depending on distance and plunging on your shells? For example, if you're way up close, should you aim at the waterline, or actually just a bit below? If you're at a range where your shells are plunging hard, should you still aim at the waterline, or should you aim a bit higher to get the shells landing on the deck?

Then you're doing it wrong. Just because you have Legolas as your avatar doesn't mean that you always have to stay at the back like an archer. Besides, if you're worried about DDs, then go with the manly build on the Tirpitz:

Equipment: Main Armaments Mod.1, Secondary Armaments Mod.2, Damage Control I, Damage Control II, and Target System Acquisition.

Captain Skills:

Tier 1=BoS to endure more pain and BFT for machine gun secondaries.

Tier 2=Expert Marksman because MLG quickscope.

Tier 3=Vigilance to spot torpedoes even further or Superintendent if the torpedoes don't bother you.

Tier 4=AFT because even better secondaries.

Tier 5=Manual Secondaries to get a light cruiser bolted onto your sides.

Flags: India Delta, Mike Yankee Soxisix, Victor Lima, India X-Ray, India Yankee, Sierra Mike, Juliet Charlie, Juliet Yankee Bissotwo.

With all of these, you can 1v1 anybody up close and melt any DD that even so much as looks at you.

Also, i heard that US Battleships are sometimes easier to citadel under the turrets rather than at the center of the ship. Same for Cleveland, which supposedly has its citadels exposed under the turrets.

Aim at the same place regardless. Plunging fire from a BB easily pens deck armor of even other BBs.

From my experience this is true, most of the citadels I get against American BBs (at least up to tier 8) are with waterline shots hitting below the turrets. The New Mexico is especially a pain to citadel anywhere else.

Shooting for the turret magazines on cruisers too is never a bad idea, especially at the lower tiers where the pen might be trollish enough to not get through to the main citadel around the engines.
