Clemson in a nutshell. Definitely one of the more enjoyable ships I've had the chance to play.

The sort of ship that if you take the time to learn how she works, she'll return the favor and give her captain nice games like that. Good game.

I once got 13 torpedo hits and 4 kills in the Clemson when the entire enemy team decided to clog up the west end of Big Race. In the future, I plan on rebuying her because she's the only good USN DD gunboat at any sort of range outside point-blank range. Also, this:

While not denying what you say, for me personally, Wickes seems to deliver more.

The Clemson is always fun. I re-bought her after I couldn't figure out how to use the Farragut well and I just missed the closer action of lower tiers. And I'm glad I did, because Clemson is just too much fun. You can get away with the most ridiculous aggressive, death-defying feats in that ship.

Clemson can stealth fire with only a 10 point captian. 10.1k with a max range of 10.5k IIRC. Not much, but it can be done.

Consealment Expert gives and wider stealth fire window as well as gives you about the same detection range as the IJN DD so they have next to no time to react.

You can also stealth torp if the enemy is sailing towards you. Takes practice to use of course.

TBH I have no idea why they gave the IV destroyers preferential matchmaking.

The Isokaze and Clemson are absolute monsters of the destroyer lines, and are easily some of the best of the USN and IJN.

Screw your Shimakaze and Gearing. I love my Isokaze and Clemson to bits.

Same here. Both are quite capable in tier 6 games with a semi-compitent player.

I love these videos.  I laugh so hard I cry half the time I watch them.  My wife thinks I am an idiot when she  sees this.

Big race is one of the best maps for the Clubson. Lots of islands to hide behind and sneak up on unsuspecting cruisers and BBs. haven't gotten 130K damage yet but I've gotten several Krakens, High Calibers, and Confederates so far.

Once you get her hull upgrade, which upgrade the gun mounts into dual ones, she becomes quite the fun gunboat, with a considerable amount of torpedoes as well to supplement that firepower.

I thought I would finally work my way up the US DD line...but now I just want to play Clemson for awhile longer.

Now you're making me want to buy my Clemson back :amazed:

Why did you sell her in the first place?

While not denying what you say, for me personally, Wickes seems to deliver more.

Honestly not much difference between the two of them. They're both solid little gunboats with the ability to unleash a lot of hurt if you're able to get within 5km of someone. I like them both. :)

Same here. Both are quite capable in tier 6 games with a semi-compitent player.

Until you run up against the 4-5 Clevelands/Buydonis/Nurnbergs/Aobas on the enemy team when they're close enough to support each other. Or get dragged into a T7 match because your division-mate decided to take out a Minikaze. Clemson is a WWI DD. She really shouldn't be facing WWII light cruisers, much less WWII heavy cruisers.

Is the Nicholas even worth it? I'm not much of a DD player, but I'm decent in the Clemson.

In my opinion, no. Nicholas is faster than Clemson. And she has quicker gun traverse with her 5"/38s. But the 4"/50s on the Clemson work well and have a flatter trajectory. And Clemson has a significantly quicker torpedo reload. Personally I found I like Clemson a lot more than Nicholas, but that's me and I prefer low-tier matches.

I kept mine.

Kinda miss having actual guns and not mortars(anyone who has played a USN DD tier 5+ knows exactly what I'm talking about), but I don't really play much else other than my Mahan right now.

I rebought the Clemson a week or so ago specifically because of this video and it is an absolute joy to play. If I have a bad match in another ship I know if I just go out in one battle with my Clemmie I'll feel better.
