The other side of the ''everyone else is a potato because they can't/won't do any better'' coin is elitism for the sake of elitism. /shrug Edited August 4, 2016 by Billy_Burns_91

The other side of the ''everyone else is a potato because they can't/won't do any better'' coin is elitism for the sake of elitism. /shrug That wouldn't work. The game would die quickly, there would be long que times. Unicum stats wouldn't exist IMO, supertesters woulnd't have anything to test (from the game dying and all). As far as elitism, its a tricky subject. It will always exist. Someone will always be better than the majority at something. I'm okish at this game, you know what I suck at? doing my taxes. So when I go to you to do my taxes (cuz in my mind you're a hypothetical super tax person), you will get a sense of superiority. It is simply how the human mind works. It all comes down on how the two parties handle it. It won't go away simply because you call someone elitist. In fact, by going out of your way to call someone elitist, you act exactly how those people you are calling elitist act. Pot, meet the kettle. Though the game he said that in didn't have RNG if you had enough Hit to negate any chance of missing a special attack. So for this one, yes, yourself and RNGzus as your co-pilot.

It's so much easier to blame others than to look at yourself. Yeah; when someone asked me once in chat if I didn't think any part of player success was actually skill, after I'd blown up over a supposed 'hack/cheat,' I realized how stupid that attitude was and started looking at why I was doing so badly... Amazingly enough as I examined and dealt with those issues I started getting better at the game...

Nope it wouldn't - yet that is how more than a few of those folks act. (Not) sorry if I don't enjoy being looked down upon as nothing more than an XP pinata and failing to say so, or of pointing out where I think the game needs to improve in other threads. And yeah, but of course it's wrong of me to say and you called me on it because I pointed it out instead of someone with leet skillz; I suck, I know I suck, yet learning better is being hampered by lack of access to faster internet. Which means I will never, ever, be in the position most everyone else in this thread has achieved, so again, /shrug. 1,131 Goodwood_Alpha Members 3,043 posts 10,248 battles Report post #24 Posted August 4, 2016 As much as I agree with the sentiments behind this thread and dislike playing the blame game, there are and will be times when it is not in fact your fault that your ship was sunk or the match was lost. Is it your fault when a friendly ship puts torpedoes into your hull, whether intentional or not? While the latter can be mitigated with superior situational awareness, there's not much one can do about a deliberate TK. Is it also your fault that the match is lost when, after giving it your all and having the game of your life (complete with a salad bar full of epic medals), you are unable to intervene as one or more of your teammates do things that—again, whether intentional or not—wind up giving the enemy what they need to pull off the win? Accepting one's own faults is certainly laudable, and necessary for a person who is genuinely working to improve their skills and abilities in any career or hobby. However, it is also good to acknowledge that there will always be factors that are outside of one's control and that they do play a part in determining success or failure. While one can attempt to mitigate such phenomena, there's no guarantee that any steps taken will have the desired effect.
