Here's the answer:

 We won, by 'completing the mission'. I have to be honest, I saw our team melting and thought we were going to lose this one for sure. I didn't even think to look at the point progress / cap zones. It was a surprise to me when I realized that we'd won, a few moments after the battle had ended.

people don't understand the value of capping...

 

THere is an iChase video of a guy in a Pensecola, that did very little damage, although killed a few ships.. but did a lot of capping... got a million credits and won the game...

 

capping matters!!!!

As a whole their team even did better.

 

The Indy was probably the game changer there. Probably running AS and keeping your capper clear from bombers that could have reset or completely saved the cap.

Lert, had a game like this over the weekend i think it was... we were out numbered ship-wise but it was the two cap style of map. We had just finished beating up and killing all the red on the western side of the map. We all had the same idea at the same moment - CAP!!! Off we went, all three of us. We killed one guy who approached then secured the cap and won. It was great!

 

You know - although it isn't sporting - you really want to shout out to the red team something like, "Nyaaaa!"

The Indy was probably the game changer there.

 

I think that's what happened, yeah. His air kills speak volumes. I was too busy shooting at North Carolinas to really watch what our CV was doing.

Capping made sense in that game because you were losing. In a situation where my team is winning, I'll take doing damage over capping every time.

Oh I can play this game, looks at these results and tell me who won.

 The team with the most ships still floating. :angry: My team lost on negative points in a standard battle, I got focused early on and had to play from the back but still it was a terrible game. Lesson learned, games after midnight central US time are a toss up. Very next match did almost the same thing to the enemy team, complete steam roll.

That's very easy, looking at the XP earned by the red team ships. Something you can't say about the battle I posted.

Capping made sense in that game because you were losing. In a situation where my team is winning, I'll take doing damage over capping every time.

 

Winning always makes sense. Best way to win is to play objectives first, hoover up damage up second. Otherwise you get these kinds of battles, but on the defeated team.

Can't even tell who's capping there.

 

With the winning team multiplier, I thought that he/she got at least 400 XP. Unless all he/she's doing is just capping and then die.

I have stressed this time and time again. 

 

Capping wins games 80% of the time. The other 20% the other team has superior players and you die so fast you didn't have time to win by a cap. 

 

Sometimes I wish we could turn off multi-cap games. Of course then people would complain about turtling.

This is why WTR rating that alot go on about is junk.   I don't think it values capping much.  

 

 

 

I have had games that i took 4 caps, killed 3 DD's and did 40k  damage... but taking the caps is what won the game.

Excellent win, More people should remember that the way these game modes are set up getting those objectives is just as important as killing ships.

Truf.  WG doesnt' track it in a way it can be captured, so it's not reflected in ANY of the personal rating formulae.
