Carrier Waypoint Problem

Hi there!

I've been experiencing a bug where sometimes, when I have planes selected and the plane waypoint marker is showing, the game decides that, say, right into battle with enemy cruisers is where the CARRIER, not the Dive Bombers, wants to go. It's setting ship waypoints instead of plane waypoints, which causes time-consuming and plan-interrupting manual resets of the waypoints. I've experienced this on both Windows and Mac.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Lack of sensitivity/stiffness of the controls? Sometimes takes a double click on the aircraft control icon to get the waypoint cursor to switch back and forth between selections, CV to AC, and even on occasion AC to AC.

Yeah, not sure if it's a gameside issue or just me. Interesting to know others seem to be experiencing it.

Yes, had happened to me several times since 5.9

*Note* yes it is easy to mess up the controls, and I usually just attribute it to operator error, however I have had it happen several times recently where I was making moves slowly and unstressed (beginning of battle or end about to win) and had this happen where I am 99% certain it was not operator error.

Why even bother with waypoints for Carriers?

I play Carriers and never use waypoints - I steer manually at all times. It is necessary to do so to react immediately to changing threats.

I find I have enough time to manage my plane load outs, as well.

Doesn't happen to me...granted, I unmapped the map-pinging key and never autopilot my carrier...

one thing that helped me from accidentally selecting my ship was to click the lock button on the carrier icon.  this makes it so that your carrier is not automatically selected when you deselect your planes

My carrier button is locked by default...and can you deselect planes?

Thanks, that is a good idea....and I shall pretend I was smart enough to have thought of that on my own :amazed:

I didn't know that's what that button did. I just clicked it to see what happened, and it's stayed clicked ever since.

If you right click on screen, that will deselect your current selection. If you have the cv icon locked, doing the right click will deselect your selection and auto select your cv. If it's not locked then nothing will be selected and any further left clicks will not send your cv to certain doom
