I fired before, at and after center mass from 5.0km away with my Kami R. Not one torpedo hit the carrier. Not one. I have about 585K free xp on my Kami so I do know how to fire her torps. I'm wondering just how much lag could affect the aim indicator. I haven't experienced this in the past. I have noticed since the last update firing the Kami R's guns results in a click click, a second or so delay, then ba-bam... as one then the remaining guns fire. I'm therefore wondering if the same sort of thing could be happening with torps.

I updated the driver and my issue went away.

My lag and de-sync issue went away after a re-install, evidently some mods I had installed from 5.8 (minimap and smoke) overwrote some of the actual files in the game, instead of overriding them from the res_mods folder. Worked like a charm last night.

There have been a couple of times just recently when I knew my torp spread was good and missed so maybe that's the problem...

By this I mean whether you are firing all salvos at the same location, and whether you firing wide or narrow torpedoes within each salvo. I try put one salvo slightly in front of the aim indicator, one on the aim indicator, and then one slightly behind, in that order as most ships turn when they see the first salvo. And sometimes if its a savvy hard to hit ship or driver, I mix it up with wide spread and narrow spread, or shoot all wide spread on the same point, it seems they have a hard time combing three consecutive wide spread salvos coming at them more or less on top of each other...

I almost always do this... let's say they are moving left to right. My first salvo would be slightly behind "center mass" on the indicator on the premise when they see the torps they'll try to "hit the brakes". The second salvo I'll put ahead and the third right on the target. Sometimes I alternate my first and last salvos. I normally use a narrow spread unless I'm up close and personal; in those scenarios I use a wide spread. Thanks for the advice tho... cause what got me about this was he was just sitting there. I spread the love around half before, half after and right on center mass. Every torpedo missed and with the narrow spread, I found that amazing. So yeah, maybe the lag had something to do with it. It's funny - I've said it elsewhere, but I get better connections with the PTS than I do the normal NA server!

There have been a number of times I've seen my torps sail right through the enemy ship. Now, I try to fire my torps when the lag is the lowest.
