[guide] Multiple loading screens.

With the help of IKU19 and Darth Doge, and a mod by Mebius_LW (he did all the actual work for this, btw) I was able to make this guide on multiple loading screens.

The key ingredient to this mod is the gamloading.swf file. IKU explained the reason other mod attempts fail is because gameloading.swf needs a digital signature for the game to read it. If the file is edited, the signature is destroyed and the game won't accept the file's contents. Mebius created his own version of gameloading.swf and was able to get WG devs to sign the thing to make this modding possible.

Things you'll need:

  • Both the gameloading.swf and the gameloading_res folder (these can usually be found in aslain modpack)
  • four images that are 1920 x 1080 in resolution using the .png format EDIT: our glorious Gold Pile has determined that resolution doesn't matter and you can get a .jpg to work if you rename the extension to .png. I would personally recommend 1920x1080 for the resolution, though, so the image doesn't suffer too much scaling.
  • an unzipping utility of some kind

Here are my example images

Download the flash folder I linked above and unzip it to somewhere where you can find it.

Open up the flash folder and the gameloading_res folder. There are several images in the folder, but only four are of interest to us. I have highlighted them below.

3cN2h8P.png

  • gameloading_I1
  • gameloading_I2
  • gameloading_I3
  • gameloading_IF

Simply take your four replacement images, and replace each of the four highlighted images with your four. Make sure to use those exact names, which are formatted as: gameloading, underscore, I as in India, and then the image number in hex (1,2,3,F).

mWpx06x.png

when that is done, take your flash folder and merge it with C/World of Warships/res_mods/*/gui/flash and if it asks you about replacing gameloading.swf say yes.

you should get results like this when you launch the game (ignore the altered WOWS logo. That's from another mod)

If it doesn't work you can complain down below

Interesting. I tend to run only some light mods, but this piques my interest. Might experiment later. Shame it's limited to 4 screens.

I looked through the RU thread and Mebius says the code can be rewritten to add more screens, but it's not a priority for him.

you'll have to get the signature on your new version if you do that

and if you ever make a trump modpack, you can absolutely use what I just said when you market it.

I'll do a complete reskin like MajorRenegade and PravdaTeam. LOL

Very minor issue here, but if I change the loading bar (gameloading_IB.png, that little blue bar), I can't see the loading progress. It will show the modified png, but no progression in the loading. (The game actually loads, just can't see the progression)

I had the same issue with the one picture gameloading.swf.

Also another question, how do you find the hexadecimal for each pictures? From what I checked, the pictures are not even in the .swf anymore.

no idea. My game's not shown loading bar progression ever since I downloaded Nanasaki's Kancolle modpack.

They already have their hex in the gameloading_res folder. If you deleted an image and forgot the hex, you can use the photos in my guide as reference. The modified swf removed the images folder and has an additional script that tells the swf to use gameloading_res as its image folder.

I'm sorry I didn't ask my question properly. I didn't mean how to find the hexadecimal for this particular mod, but for any other mods I could want to make. For example, let's say I want to mod service_lib.swf using this new mod technique (having a res_[swfname] folder). How would I go and find what's the hexadecimal for the files to change? Is it the name of the picture? Is it the number if the picture? Anything else?

If you look at the russian tutorial for the technique, his exported .png dont have the hexadecimal code. I don't get where he gets them.

oh. The number at the very end is the decimal number. You have to convert that to hex yourself. I think it only works for hud_lib, though

Cool thanks, this been bugging me for the longest time and I'm happy that someone was finally able to solve the gameloading modding issue

Now I can readd the gameloading back to my interface mod next update. 5.10 or 6.0

Vke0S6j.png

btw, the wows logo you see in the middle screenshot(in spoiler above) can be replace in service_lib.swf. @ DefineBitsLossless2 (368)
