North Carolina shell cost

Is there any particular reason why ammo costs for North Carolina are... absurdly high? Sometimes, even higher than your repair bill? Let's compare to say... Amagi.

Amagi: 180 shots fired, 27,000 credits ammo cost

North Carolina: 180 shots fired, 45,000 credits ammo cost

So USN not only has poor shell ballistics, they also have shells that cost nearly double the IJN ones?

And here was wondering why it was so hard to pull positive games on NC even with consistent 100k damage wins... (those premium consumables might have something to with it, but that aside... :hiding:)

Colorado to NC was actually rather easy, farmed something like 15m credits without premium by the time had everything researched. Doesn't look like NC to Iowa will be possible in the same manner.

Also depends what map you are on, and what tiers you are facing.

I noted that the 'Sunk' repair cost varies by map.  Stands to reason the ammo will also vary.

It's always a sad thing to be in a tier 8 NC, facing tier 10 ships as the low tier ship on the map.

Add to that insult the higher repair bill, and I suppose, higher ammo costs.

This is one reason I have stopped playing my NC.  I cannot continue playing it, losing money every round.  The A Hull is crap, and I can't afford to keep grinding to get to the B hull.  I have stopped the American BB line at NC, and am hoping everything is better with the German line soon.

just because you reach a tier 8 USN BB and lose profit with it doesn't mean that the German BB's would do any better :P

and welcome to high tier battles (tier 8-10)

at tier 8-10 games if you don't do well in a game you tend to lose a lot of credits hence you have to have other low tier ships to support your economy (unless you're running premium)

The unit cost is 250 credits per shell for North Carolina if you're curious.

The reason why is because the shell is fat.  It's big, it's heavy, it requires more man-hours to fully stock the ship with them (probably), it requires more propellant per shot, it's got a bigger bursting charge, and penetrates better than Amagi's shells.  Seriously, I'm not making any of that up.  Per-shell damage in-game is indeed higher (reflecting the bigger bursting charge), penetration in-game, especially at long range, is astounding (you don't get cits as easily because of the angle of approach but you get a hell of a lot more normal pens - I personally prefer the greater consistency), the in-game ballistics reflect the heavier shell, and the real propellant charge for the 16"/45cal was 535lbs while it was 483lbs for the Japanese.

Is this also why the NC has nasty shell dispersion?
